change the display IC near the main board strip connector, there r two ICs the one on the right side is for mini display , re heat it if it doesn't work after changing the IC ;)

there are a few ways you can go about this. one of which is to take your father's phone to a repairer who would in turn help you unlock it for a small fee. and then it would work with any network including vodaphone.
apart from this, you can buy him another cheap vodaphone so you can call him.
apart from these two, there is no other way you can do this.

First, their is no secret code to unlock your phone. The carrier has the ability to unlock your phone. But it must be that carriers phone. you need to contact the carrier, that owns your phone. I far as your private security code PUK,
Example: Phone was on AT&T and you want on T-Mobile..
AT&T has to give you the unlock code.
In addition to that, their is another code which allows you to change carriers, again you must contact the carrier...
NO SECRET CODES FOLKS. Their are online service's that you can pay for a PUK code.

There can be many ways to Unlock your phone. As far as i know unlocking by codes is the simple and safe way. I will suggest the website Unlock-Zone.com which is doing good service and they were recommended highly in the cell phone forums.
I used them to unlock my cell phone. contacted them and within 30 mins i had my unlock code and my phone was unlocked.

there is flip which connects the display and circuit board,just change that flip.
