Atari 2600, only get black and white, no color
Well i think that the rf switch might be causing the problem snowy tv scrren no colour or fuzzy tv screen then its the rf switch thats causing this type of a problem then. If using a digital tv you need to plug it into a VCR or a DVD player for it to work then.

It might be an RF cable problem. Try an RCA to F type connector. You might be able to pick one up at radioshack.

My best guess would be the video adapter switch you have to use to hook up the game console to the TV. If I remember correctly you have to slide a switch to either TV or game depending on whether you are watching TV or playing a game. Over time switches like that need the internal contacts cleaned. You can probably get a can of contact cleaning spray at Radio Shack. Just follow the directions on the can of contact clearer and you will probably fix your problem.
When playing the system it will start out with a
dirty contact surfaces on the end of video cable or the switch box terminal are suspect. you can use very fine sandpaper rolled to clean inside the plug on end of cable. a wiggle test should find the poor contact.

How to hook up my atari
It hooks up to the coaxial jack on the back of the tv ( antenna jack )you will also have to get a Manual TV/Game Switch Box with Coaxial Output or a 300 to 75 OHM matching transformer or a coaxial (f-type) to female rca adapter. You can also just splice a coax cable to the Atari. There are also a converter box that will convert a coaxial input to RCA output ( Yellow,red,white) cabels
