tap f8 a couple of times after bios shows, then select vga mode in the list
if that works then you can change to a different resolution in display

This error can occur when there is a problem in reading and/or verifying data on the HDD/SDD. The most common cause is a loose data connection, although the power connection can cause similar issues. Check the connections at both ends of the cables. Also check the connections to your optical drive and make sure that your RAM is correctly seated. Since you have already opened your laptop to do prior maintenance, it is quite possible that you have dislodged one or more cables without realising it. By the sounds of it, your laptop continued to work for a short while before failing again with your current issue. It is likely that a sudden sharp knock might have caused a loose connection to become disconnected.

Ok if you cannot get to any other screens you cannot get to the normal recovery options, this looks like the file has corrupted in some way, your not saying which version of windows your using, if its windows 10 and you have access to another PC you can download and save an ISO version of windows that you can then put on a USB stick, or DVD, or if you have a Zalman drive you can use this, boot up from this disk and you can attempt the repair options if this does not work then you will have to wipe the dive and reinstall. You can also use your ACER recovery disk to do the same if you used the provided tool, to create them, to restore your machine

Hi. Windows updates the drivers automatically once a new digitally signed driver is detected specially Windows 10. By lag do you mean applications open slower than usual or do you mean browsing with a web browser has become slower? If the latter, try clearing your browser's cache.
- On Mozilla Firefox: Press CTRL+SHIFT+DEL simultaneously and click Clear Now
- On Internet Explorer browser: Press CTRL+SHIFT+DEL simultaneously and click Delete
- On Google Chrome: Press CTRL+SHIFT+DEL simultaneously and click Clear Browsing Data
- On Microsoft Edge: Press CTRL+SHIFT+DEL simultaneously and click Clear

oh wow a near 2 decade or older RELIC. 2003 is year. I have the service manual on it 52 pages.
why would you touch this THING.?
no photos of you screen bad, posted here, so answers will weak, wrong or wild guessing, so expect that , with us blind.

do not open it up as the 24,500 volts DC ! will make you light up like fire fly or worse *****. OK
in the military I worked them 10x more dangerous,
if it has and OSD button (menu) try clicking on the restore to defaults but if the PO (prev. owner) found the Reg GUN inside
weak, as all do this old, then he turned it up and blue green down
to hide the loss of RED gun beam currents weak.
so then you come along and reset it and bam back to weak RED on screen.
The PC also has HV adjust, is sent wrong cause the focus pins on CRT to go wrong and blurry.
playing here , is very dangerous.
why not buy $40 used LCD screen used, with no dangers
these CRT when dirty inside like to catch fire. or spill coffee on top far far worse.
for you and IT. best is send it to the recycle center,
CRT very rare now. and good.

so its guessing game, old PCs bad. 7years old,, and common this
did you test this PC under BIOS first.
no big battery installed and on AC only pack , and new RTC coin call over 2.9vdc.
the back lamps LED are failing, why can be many reasons.
remove the hDD and DVD? after all those can short too.
they can partially short and overload the regulators.
but you see data, and that means LED is dead (super dim)
the PC dims them if power is low.

1: bad screen
2: bad cable
3: BAD LCD SCREEN driver chips on mobo

Unless the drive in your laptop is a blu-ray drive, it won't recognize a blu-ray disc. A blu-ray drive can recognize and play a regular DVD, but it doesn't work the other way around.

If your computer is indeed fitted with a blu-ray drive, the laser lens may need cleaning. On a laptop, you usually have clear access to the lens with the tray open, so you can try cleaning it with a cotton swab moistened with lens cleaner. Or the disc itself may have a problem. Try another disc and see if the trouble continues.

If the computer doesn't have a blu-ray drive and you will frequently want to play blu-ray discs, get a USB external blu-ray drive. It's easier to find one of those than to locate a suitable blu-ray replacement drive for a laptop. There are many variations of drives used in laptops, but an external drive will always be compatible. And you'll be able to use it with other computers not blu-ray equipped.

THERE IS NO ANSWER TO THAT LACKING ABOVE.

but you can,:at anytime
1: buy new HDD< or better SSD.
2; then buy a new OS and install it .

what OS runs is based on what you never told.
XP will not run on new PC and w10 will not run on old PC,
in general.
so no answers possible clear and accurate.

Do you have any cloud backup set up with Google? if so you should be able to get your images and docs from google website on a computer. also if you have a microSD card you might want to try seeing what you can retrieve of of it.

As soon as you power on your PC, start pressing the F2 key. This should bring up the BIOS (Basic Input Output Systems) screen. Make sure your Hard Drive is listed in the Boot order. Usually a CD drive is listed first, then the Hard Drive as a second boot device. If you do not see the Hard Drive listed, then it probably is bad and needs replacing. If it is listed correctly in the boot order, your Operating System has crashed, and you will need the recovery disks or the instalation disk for your Operating System (XP, Win7,etc.)

try a new battery yet, all time #1 failure off all portable devices
is that....
when a PC sees the battery weak it dims the screen
that is a FEATURE, and allows you to run longer.
so if the battery is bad and overloads the power regs.
then it dims,

or the battery is only low, recharge it yet, even overnight?
