Perhaps the power outage, was caused by your freezer? When you think a reset would help, the run light should come on, after a little while. But perhaps only the thermostat is defect. Be aware there can be so many causes, and none has to be related to the power outage, for your freezer not to work. It would be virtually impossible to see what is wrong, from a distance. Better try to bring the food to a working fridge and call a tech to solve the problem.

Hello Darrell; My name is Peter. I am a retired field service technician. Why do you think your Magic Chef is still working after 20 years? Your unit was manufactured with reliable cast steel components. Do you want to purchase a new unit with more efficiency with components manufactured with plastic and cast ceramic. If you do decide to purchase a more efficient unit, do not discard your well build Magic Chef. When the new unit fails after 5 years, you will always have the older well built unit.

have you looked as for a hole or opening and if there is none then this has happened to me you could take to the the store you got it at or get a new one but if there is a hole you could use a "freezer glue"

Look around for where the unit receives temp input. Maybe the sensor is iced over and reading incorrectly.

Take off the service panel and check for the compressor running. Can you place your hand on
it or is it too hot. If it is you might change the relay to the compressor.Take your model no. to your local parts store and they will help you look at the part and exactly where it is located (on the compressor) Easy change out.
If the compressor is not running at all then remove the two wires to the thermostat and plug them
together (They will plug together if you turn one backwards and plug it into the other.)
Make sure you have unplugged the freezer while you are doing this.
Now you have routed around the thermostat.
If it runs then replace the thermostat and youre done!
If not after the relay and thermostat check it wont run then you have a bad compressor.
On the relay ask for a hard start relay for a freezer or ref. at the parts store. They know exactly
what it is. Its even easier to install. Don't be shy to repair this. You can do it or condemn it
