Hoveround MPV5 had 12v-27 amp batteries in it and I put 12v-35amp in it. Would the 12v-35 amp batteries make the motor get hot? The motor gets hot and the new batteries 12v-35 amp go down real fast.

The larger batteries should have made them run for longer on a single charge. They aren't 35 amp batteries, they are 35 amp *hour*. 12 volts is the thing that matters. Check the batteries are correctly fitted and make sure the motors are clean. The fact they go down faster is puzzling and for that, I would exchange the batteries as they sound faulty.Answer Edited for clarity. However, the motors are now the issue.

My chair has been sitting for three years now won't take a charge and run did the main battery die

Time for a new battery. The worst thing you can do to a battery is let it sit for a long time. Once the battery was activated it is best to keep it charged while not in use. Use a trickle charger while storing your chair.

I need to remove tire?

You will need Socket wrenches, a big ***** Driver and air valve tool if there is a pneumatic tire involved, two 3"-5/16" bolts w/nuts and washers. I like to tip the chair on its side. and loosen the main shaft nut and remove it. Then wiggle the tire back and forth, then lift. If you are lucky it will slide right off. then you can let the air out of your inner tube or go straight to removing the split rim bolts. the ***** driver is used between the rim and tire and pry apart the tire from the rim, work around the the rim until the tire is off on both sides, If this is a foam filled tire then you will need 2 5/16" Bolts w/ nuts and washers replace the tire and line up the hole for the bolts and push the rims together so the long bolts can make it long enough to put the nut on. the nut down a little then put another one on opposite side to pull the wheel in tighten the bolts a little on each side evenly until the original bolts are able to be used to tighten then take out long bolts and install all the rest of the shorter bolts. tighten them up and grease the shaft and put the shaft key in the slot and gently put the wheel on and tighten the shaft nut. Check to see the wheel turns with the shaft. the key can slide out some times Then tip the chair up and see how it drives. Sorry no pictures yet. Cant charge it Lights keep blinking and the only thing that works is the horn.

Before charging, make sure the unit is turned off. Connect the charger to the wall outlet first and then to the chair. Check that the battery cables are attached fully to the control box. Turn on charger. After charging, remove charger and verify the unit is fully in gear. The levers must be fully in the up position. If the lights still flash, some wiring is probably loose, or the drives are not fully engaged.

Hoveround won't move.

Double check to be sure drive levers are fully engaged. Go down and up a few times. If problem persists have Hoveround come and check it out. One of the drive motors may have shorted out when you continued driving with gravel in the wheel.

How do you change batteries on hoveround mpv5 ?

Disconnect cables going from battery boxes to the control box. There is probably a catch that needs to be squeezed in, then pull and wigglt the connection block until it disengages. Release the straps over the battery boxes then remove batteries and covers. Lift up on the cover (you may need to push some cable back into the box) and put cover aside. Disconnect cables from batteries and attach to the new batteries. Same procedure, in reverse, gets you back to an operational MPV5.

How do i replace hoveround motor?

First off, are you sure it's the motor causing the problem? Changing the motor is a major job. Basically, you have to completely disassemble the entire unit. Remove the seat and then the batteries. To get to the drive motor, you must remove the pedestal base, and the plastic shroud that covers the base plate. Remove all screws from the top of the unit, and flip over and remove the bolts from the bottom. The control box is held in place by 2 hex screws. Label the motor wires showing their location. Remove motor and replace with new drive motor. Attach motor wires and reassemble entire unit.
