bad final also check for any burned resistors in the area. If the final caused the resistor to burn the just replacing the resistor it would burn the new one also.

because of lack of information on this radio I will have to say its stamped the same way as the 9001z which is top secret because even midland doesn't have a manual on it . If you look at the board with a magnifying glass you will see the variables are marked with like vr-1 might say mod, if that's the one then turn it all the way to the left for max mod. You have to look at each variable and next to it it will have what function it does .

check the SWR. the antenna may not be tuned. Also, you may be hearing skip. If so, they are thousands of miles away, and you don't have enough power to talk to them.

Find some one close to test it.

Here are some things to check.

• Try a different mic. With out a properly functioning mic, the radio will not go into receive mode.
• Make sure the RF gain is up all the way.
• Make sure the squelch is not too high.
• Make sure the radio is not in PA mode and is on CB mode.

If none of the listed fixes your issue, there may be a more serious problem with the radio. It will need a tech.

Sounds like you may have a defective radio and may need to send it back. I had the same problem with mine but was out of warranty so i dove in and found mine to be the low voltage transmit circuit.
This sounds like it may be to new to remove the covers off of though so I would allow midland fix it. hope I helped .

The microphone isn't working - either because the audio pre-amplifier has failed or, almost surely, the flexible cable that connects it to the base has a break in it.  
Just replace the microphone.

Ya know I have that same radio with the same chirp. I have asked many to tell me if they hear the chirp on the air and no one has heard it but me. I know what it is but i wont fix it due to the fact it is the only radio that does that to me and i think its kinda cute for it to do it. Now to let you in on the secret is that for the radio to go from rx to tx is handled by transistors plus the computer has to give final say so to tx. So the chirp is developed by the switching and computer turn around times to allow you to talk. I hope this helps.

I think you meant 70-0351c? I believe this is a 60 watt transceiver. So if you remember ohms law P=IxE or power equals amps times volts so 5 amps times 12 volts equals 60 watts. Use a 5 amp fuse.

If its a real old radio Midland may not have it---Google that model number with "manual" to see what is available.

go to radio shack or best buy you need a step up transformer .or you can buy a travel kit and you dont need a lot of watts transformer to do this dont let them rip you off on a high watt one.
