Absolutely, I have this myself. My 5th Gen works great, but the 160GB would not show movies, just played music. Apple has an adapter cable set that allows you to hook your Ipod to your TV. $50 buy it! You can charge and watch your stuff on your flat screen. It also unlocks your Ipod TV out setting for your Video 55. Set you IPOD video setting to TV Out: on, select your movie and play. Plug in the IPOD nip to your Ipod then set your Ipod into the Video 55. A bit of a pain but works flawlessly. If you select a different movie you have to do this all over again.

The battery is rechargable for about 400x. If you leave it on the charger too long or never let the battery run down it will shorten its life span. Sonic Impact no longer sells the replacement battery unit through their website and I have been looking for replacements myself. the problem is this: the battery unit is integrated with the battery cover and can not be separated. So you need the actual Sonic Impact battery, and they have not responded to any emails, requests for customer support or phone calls. Good luck.

If you have a later IPod, 6th Gen or later, Apple changed the software and Sonic Impact no longer plays your movies, but audio is fine. You can get around this by purchasing, from Apple, and adapter cable. It is $50 but allows you to charge your Ipod and play your movies on your home TV. The cable is really just a key that unlocks the TV Out setting. If you have and 5th Gen or earlier then you probably just need to go into video setting and select TV OUT : ON. You need to switch the video out seeting on the iPod, simple. It is located in Video/video settings/TV Out. Change the setting to "On". Problem solved. However, if you have an iPod that is less than 1 year old, nothing will work, iPod blocked this ability to change to "On" and is set on "Off" permanently.

If it's an Apple product, you can guarantee that it's going to break, malfunction or whatever you want to call it. I say this because you have to have Apple fix it for 2-3 times the cost in fear of losing any warranty or Apple services moving forward. It's a great business method but not so much for the consumer's side of it.

This is a very common issue with these Sonic Impact players, and even I personally have experience it myself. They are just poorly made, and the circuitry of the player does not agree with Apple iPod products, which sadly is what they are supposed to be made for. They seem to function fine for a few weeks, sometimes longer, but invariably they always start to "degrade" and eventually just stop working with the ipod altogether. I personally recommend you get rid of the player (sell it on ebay or something, just list that you have had issues with the buttons not always being responsive. Someone will buy it regardless) or just get rid of it to the goodwill.

1. Power Off: Turn off the device.
2. Jumper Configuration: Locate the jumper labeled "S16" on the device. Initially, it should be connected to pins 2 and 3.
