MY YAMAHA DGX220 KEBOARD

Hi

Try different power outlets. If the keyboard works, the circuit breaker/fuse for the original outlet(s) needs attention. Next, check if the battery contacts (inside the battery compartment) are clean and making good contact when batteries are used. If after trying these actions the keyboard still does not work, the problem could be the on/ off switch open internal circuits in which case have a qualified keyboard technician repair your unit.

Also Try a mild reset or a factory reset....

Hold down the highest white key while powering up.

OR...

Factory reset... Hold down the highest white key + the nearest 3 black keys while powering up the keyboard. However A factory reset, the second option, will DELETE everything you might have stored in any of the user areas!

Please get back to us if you have further query else please accept the suggestion.

Somehow you got into a service startup mode. Try replacing the firmware with the latest version (1.23) - that may be what the keyboard is looking for. You can download it at the Yamaha support firmware page, along with installation instructions. You will need a USB flash memory device to do it.

Other downloads for your keyboard are found on a tab at the general support page for this model.

Try headphones... possibly the switch contacts on the headphone jack which disconnect the speaker when headpones are plugged in. If you can hear via the headphones, check the switch contacts. Also look for a loose cable.

Contacts can oxidize when idle for a long time.

My Korg c15s has a

I have a Korg C-15s and also experiencing loud crackling sounds when I turn it on. The problems seems to be either the sliding volume control or the amplifier itself. Honestly though, I believe the issue is the volume control. I opened my piano to get a closer look and attempted to clean the contacts on the volume. Unfortunately after cleaning the contacts, the crackling sounds became somewhat worse. After I turn the piano on, the volume control is generally rendered useless......volume set to low volume and the noise is quite loud and other times the volume control is set high and get very low volume crackling noise. No real consistency. The noise does diminish after a few minutes but so does the piano sounds to an inaudible level. There were a couple of instances where I turned it on and surprising enough, no no noise and perfect sound. For these reasons I believe the issue is within the volume control and not so much the amplifier. I have an electronics background and noticed that the volume control is very unique in design and is not something that can be substituted with another volume control from other sources.

My recommendation is to check the sound quality of the audio from the RCA L/R audio outs on rear of the piano by connecting to a stereo receiver. If it sounds fine you're in luck. If the crackling sound does not diminish after a few minutes like mine does, I would suggest disconnecting the internal speakers and using the audio out only. You can connect a pair of studio monitors or high quality computer speakers, preferably with a small subwoofer to deliver the full audio range and deeper tone of a real piano. I'm currently using a basic pair of Logitech computer speakers and is quite acceptable until I can afford a high quality set of monitors or relocate my piano closer to my high quality Yamaha receiver.

I hope this info helps a bit.

I recently purchased a yamaha PSR-E223 YPT-220

Does the user guide tell you should have got this adaptor along with the keyboard? Often there's a "what's in the box" page. They normally do include one.

I would suggest firstly going to Argos and getting a replacement or ask them to supply one. You'll need your receipt.

If not then any universal AC mains adaptor which can supply 12v DC and the correct plug (2.5mm) will do the job.

You should be able to get them from Maplins, Ebay or here's a web site:-

I plugged in the sustain pedal and then turned on

If this is a yamaha pedal made for this board, and if this is a simple quarter inch two terminal jack, you could just take a multimeter and touch the two terminals together and see if you have continuity when you close OR open the switch. Depending on how yamaha does it, it could be opened or closed when the switch is not being pressed, and then the opposite when pressed. You also want to look for a polarity switch on the pedal. If this pedal is not yamaha brand, but just a generic pedal, they usually have a switch to adjust the polarity. Also, turn the board off, plug in the pedal, and then turn it on. sometimes the boards won't recognize it unless pedals are plugged in first before they are booted.
Good luck!

Hi there,
you'll need to open the keboard and check for the keys that has a missing mechanism on it. It usually is a stopper to prevent the keys from "sticking". You can use crazy glue or mighty bond to stick the broken parts together.

Hope this helps

My yamaha psr s900 has

http://www.retrevo.com/support/Yamaha-PSR-S900-Music-Keyboards-manual/id/20332ci477/t/2/

Above are some manual links.

Hi, underneath if you look carefully you will see the Holes that contain the screws, no srtart in one corner, have a look at this one, there are often little arrows besides the correct ones to take out, in any event, work around the edges of the unit, undoing screws as you go.. look for all similar screws too, anyway remove them all.. now using a flat non-sharp instrument say a Butter Knife, at one corner again sort of slide the blade in between the case halves and pry open carefully. Put your screws into a container as you remove them, if there are differing types use different containers.

Observe all settings etc, write stuff down, plugs cables etc. do a drawing if necessary just go slow and methodical. Now once you have access, and that may not mean entirely taking the case in half even, whatever is required. now identify the piece you wish to replace and examine it, have a look to see how it is fastened, what wires go where etc. then remove the "Old" board, and replace it with the "new" board. (If you are confident all is well it may just pay to power up and see if it works)

If all is well, then carefully refasten it down, connect up as necessary, and make sure everything looks as it was, and close the case back up, doing the reverse procedure.. make sure you get it right first time or you'll have to do all those screws again. :)

Some screws can be under labels, so don't get caught by that one.

Always lay the unit on a big sheet of paper.
