Frigidaire 20.3 Cu. Ft. Frost-Free Upright Freezer - White - Page 2 Questions & Answers
When I used to shut my door it sounded like a whistle, kinda like an elk bugle. Now it gurgles, like water in a tube.
Hello Tim;
My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.
You do not have a major problem. This is a easy fix.
When you open your freezer door and then close it you are pushing air into your freezer. This is where the sound is coming from.
On your drain tube in the back that goes to your drain pain there might be a black rubber grommet on the end. The initial design was to put this restrictive rubber element from having air go up your drain tube. Over time the rubber dries and restricts the defrost drain and retains water.
If you have this do what I do on service calls - remove it and throw it away.
You may have a snake type drain tube to your drain pan. Once again the manufacturers engineers, with no field experience, decided to put a loop in the drain tube to prevent warm air getting into your unit. Well, the defrost condensate gets caught in the loop. That is where you are hearing the noise.
The drain tube use to be a straight tube. And so, that is where we are back to. It worked fine. Manufacturers changed it and now us technicians put the straight drain tube back in.
Getting error code 36 hour duration
I appreciate your inquiry, friend!
Based off what you have described your Frigidaire freezer is displaying an error code of 36 hours. Normally it will display that once power has been restored, it is indicating that the freezer has been without power for 36 hours. Hold the "alarm reset" for 3 seconds and that should help clear out the code. I hope this is helpful. -Matt
When turning freezer on it buzzes and chatters what could be the problem?
there should be 120vac at the overload and relay on the compressor. if a 120vac is present unplug the freezer and check for continuity thru the relay and overload. if the overload and rely is ok you may have a grouned compressor or open winding at the compressor. perform a continuity check from the c-s then c-r then s-r then c-gnd then s-gnd-r-gnd. readings should be infinity, if not you have a bad compressor. the work should be performed by a trained appliance technician.
Error code 0F
Good Morning Stephanie Garcia, thank you for your post!
From the information you have provided your Frigidaire freezer is displaying an error code of "OF". Typically, an "OF" stands for power off, you should be able to press the up arrow three times in a row within five seconds to turn your freezer back on. If that does not help correct your issue you may want to perform a reset and you can do that by unplugging the power cord for roughly ten minutes. I hope this helps. -Matt
What number should i set the upright freezer control
Thank you for your inquiry, friend!
Normally it is recommended to set your Frigidaire upright freezer to zero degrees. It is your option to make it cooler if you choose too. I hope this information has been helpful. -Matt
How do you turn off your freezer to clan it out and why does it run so long
Thank you for your post, friend!
To turn your freezer off you should be able to disable power from the control panel or you can disconnect power from your freezer to clean it out.
The compressor on your freezer will continue to run until the temperature has dropped to its setting. The thermostat inside of your freezer should tell the compressor to stop running. If you feel your freezer is running too long you may want to check to make sure the rear is cleaned out buildup of dirt or debris can cause your freezer to overwork. I hope this information is helpful to some degree. -Matt
Moved. freezer worked but won't work at new location.
Hi friend, thank you for your post!
I understand that your Frigidaire freezer is currently not working in the new outlet. I would adjust the temperature to a lower setting to see if that would start the compressor to start cooling. Is your appliance getting power to it? If you could provide feedback regarding your appliance I would like to provide see what additional information I can provide you. -Matt
My freezer is heating up?
Because a freezer only does one thing and that is freeze things, unfortunatly any things that breaks on a freezer causes the same thing. Is it running, does the fan work (frost free) are the shelves melting (non frost free) can you hear the compressor running , is the condensor fan running ?
Why is my freezer not freezing food
Be sure that you have the vents for the air flow in your freezer not covered up by boxes or bagged foods. It has to be able to circulate through the freezer towards the door and back to the vents if that is all clear the you may have an issue with the clicks on switch that tells it to defrost when it gets frozen up and can blow cold air through vents any more it also could be a bad element that works with the clicks o switch that tells element to come on and defrost. If that's not then you maybe low on refrigerant. .hope this helps
Freezer door has mosture on the outside
You need to order and replace the door gasket. Also check and be sure there the hight adjustment is correct, meaning the door is centered on the opening and not off set to where it can seal.hope this helps
Freezer seems to run all the time.
Good Morning Linda, this is Z. I appreciate your post!
I understand your Frigidaire freezer seems to continuously running. Unlike older freezer that turned off and on frequently, newer models save energy from having to start up and shut off repeatedly. For example, diesel-powered trucks conserve fuel and energy and therefore have less engine wear and tear by keeping the motor running; much like newer energy efficient refrigerators/freezer. If the compressor is running on a more constant basis; it is maintaining the temperature within your freezer, rather than having to cut off and start again to adjust the temperature.
I hope this information explains why your freezer runs more often. However, should you feel that a service technician is needed; you may visit the manufacturer website to find a provider in your area that will look at your freezer.
Best regards!
