Go to My Computer, then the TomTom drive and click explore. Move your Map folder to the desktop. Then, delete everything on the tomtom drive. Unplug it, plug it back in, and start up Tomtom HOME and install all updates, keep unplugging, plugging back in, and installing updates until there aren't any more updates. Then move your map folder back to where it was on your TomTom drive.

I have the same problem in NL.. TT Home has problems downloading over Wireless connections.
Try connecting the computer to the internet via a cable. You may have to restart TTHome or maybe even your PC. The download should be quicker and more reliable :)
The problem is related to the MTU size and working around that can be very technical.

The TomTom is brand new. I have loaded all updates, but I just get the message Poor GPS Reception-are you inside a building? (no matter where I am with it, including the Baltimore area this weekend!
Well, it MAY help to download the tomtomhome program from the tomtom website, then connect your unit to your computer and update, including the gpsfix application (that's for all the other posters who didn't mention having updated). But for Drakeca05, updating MAY have been what messed you up in the first place. I updated two days ago with tomtomhome--my tomtom one was working fine, but was a little slow to initially acquire satellites. Now since the update it's even slower, sometimes won't acquire them at all, and randomly drops them. Tomtom tech assistance is useless--they just refer you to the standard "acquiring satellites" faq that you can easily find yourself on their site & nothing there is the least bit helpful for this.

I Want to know all the gps brands then tell wich ones have a free map update. I think garmin's map update is $70.00. I think tomtom's gps has a free update but I'm not sure. Well I think there are more gps brands so tell me which one's have a free map update
i'm sorry BUT I HAVE TO TELL U THAT THERE AREN'T ANY FREE tomtom MAPS and updates unless u buy tomtom with already installed map
but there is a way to crack tomtom map
but if you're not good with pc's you can't do it
i have done it and i have to tell that is pretty complicated and is better to buy maps then try to do it the bad way

Map updates are not free, with the exception of a few units. Check your box, as they sell some units with lifetime maps and traffic.
