i have a purple shark steam mop model #s3101c the unit heats up but will not produce steam
I had the same prob and found this site off google looking for the solution.
I went back to my shark and took out all the screws, some don't feel like they were coming out but it came apart. Take a pair of pliers and release the spring clip holding the hose to the heat nozzle. Then pull off the hose. Then take a paper clip, unkink it so it's sort of straight with a curve to go into the hole . Shove it in and out to clean out the hole. I got my fingers blasted with residual steam so you should let it cool first. But I think the steam bursting out helped clean out the hole. Don't throw it away till after you try that..It worked great after that. All the best, Satch

have a you ever filled your shark steam mop with water, plugged it in , allow it to heat up but then it doesn,t produce steam ? Well, it happened to me . What am i doing wrong?
Problem: mineral dleposits. Just fixed mine.... DO THIS OUTDOORS. Add 1/2 c CLR to the tank, let sit for an hour, turn on, allow to heat and pump. May have to refill with CLR and repeat. Be persistent, and eventually you'll blow out a wad of dissovled minerals followed, happily, by billows of steam. Again, do this outdoors and keep the mop pointed away from people, plants and things. (I aimed mine into a cardboard box.) Follow up with a couple of tanks of water and pump until empty to clean out any residual CLR and loosened deposits. (I continued to get some black precipitate through the first water cleaning.) I will add that I began this process first with white vinegar, then with Lime Away..no luck put perhaps I was not sufficiently persistent. Or perhaps it was the sequence of attempts. (Also, do not take off the mop head...the part to which you attach the pads...it's tough to get off, does not allow access to parts that need cleaning (thought it would, not not so), and practically impossible to get back on.)
Alternatively, call Shark...they'll offer to repair for $18 plus $10+/- shipping, or may offer you a new one at "preferred customer" rate of $39.95 plus shipping. Good luck, and please remember to try the CLR outside.

Shark Steam Mop: Won't steam through the mop head. If you remove the mop attachment, it steams like crazy out of the end of base unit. When you re-attach mop head, all steaming stops. Is there a clog somewhere in the hose?

The mop just stopes making steam to the head. Could this be A heat coil problem? Also a lot of others have had This happen.
On these steam mops, you have to use distilled water, if you use tap water and do not have a house water softner or some kind of water filtration system, the water running thru the tubes of the steam mop
will develop calcium deposits, these deposits are caused by hard water and will clog up the tubes, and keep the mop from producing steam, then you will have to replace the lines. i own this brand of steam
mop and had the same problem you had, I replaced the lines and started using distilled water, and have not had any problems since and that was last year. good luck!
