yes you can.remove two screws from under one side pull it away slightly and it will come away.you will then have one housing on both sides left in the fridge wall, they will have a little pressure on them from the springs. just prise them away. you will need help to replace them, as you need pressure against the spring to keep the door closed. you can buy springs and housings seperately from camec there is left and right housings.give me a call if you need to ..

It is all working on one system. It sounds like the thermistor inside the refrigerator is either in the wrong place or has failed. The white clip with the wire in it should be between the first and second fin. The higher you slide it up the colder it should get. If it is set right then go to the back of the refrigerator and remove the black cover from the circuit board. On the left of the circuit board you will see two harnesses plugged in. Unplug the lower harness (the one with two wires in it) and allow it to run for 24 hours. If the refrigerator cools down then you need to replace the thermistor.

Not sure exactly what type of fridge your talking about here, as heading says dometic, your comments say electrolux, but I will say this. If it works good with engine running then I'd be looking at my charging circuits and auxiliary batteries circuit. Look for a battery isolator in the circuit as well.

There is not much gas going to the burner.Due to this the flame comes very small. And this causes the problem on gas mode. Two things to check, Expose the burner and and clean rust and dirt that falls from the steel stack on top of the burner and keeps is from burning. Another thing, the gas goes through a very small jet, you should remove this jet and make sure it is clear, don't run anything through it as you could increase the size of the jet and that would not be good. Just blow it out. .

The cold control needs replacing. Thats the knob with the numbers that turn the Ref OFF and ON.
What I do is call my local Appliance Parts Store with my model no. They are extremely helpful .
Get freezer and ref thermometer. Ref is probably too cold.
Freezer should be 0 to 10 degrees. Ref 33 to 35

WATER SPLASHING IN FREEZER AT ICEMAKER
THE FILL TUBE IN BACK OF REFRIGERATOR CAN SLIP
AGAINST THE FILL RESERVOIR CAUSING A PARTIAL BLOCKAGE
OR BECOME CLOGGED WITH ICE.
REMOVE THE ICEMAKER AND INSPECT THE FILL TUBE.
RUN WATER IN TUBE TO ELININATE BLOCKAGE AND CHECK
TEMP IN FREEZER. IF TEMP IS BELOW 0 DEGREES, THATS
OVERKILL AND USUALLY A WASTE OF ELECTRICITY TO KEEP IT THAT COLD, NOT TO MENTION THE FILL TUBE FREEZING UP

Hi jjk894,

If it does not cool on either gas or electricity but is getting hot at the rear of the unit chances are that the cooling unit will need factory repair or replacing. There are only two main failures with gas RV refrigerators.

1 The RV refrigerator is run unleveled causing the cooling unit boiler to overhead, block and crack.

2 The RV refrigerator cooling unit's steel tubing rusts and the ammonia/hydrogen gas leaks out.

Gas RV refrigerators do not operate the same way as other refrigerator types. They are charged with four types of chemicals and this mixture must be exact for the unit to work properly. The four chemicals of the charge are.

1. Water
2. Ammonia Gas
3. Hydrogen Gas
4. Rust Inhibitor powder

Boiler blocks or cracks - If the refrigerator is run while not leveled for an extended period, the cooling unit water will not flow into the boiler. The boiler as a result gets excessively hot and can bake the rust inhibitor. This will in-turn block the small 1/4" tube in the boiler and all flow will stop. If the refrigerator is kept running under these circumstances the boiler tube will get so hot that it will crack open. If this happens a yellow powder around the burner area may be visible indicating that the cooling units rust inhibitor is leaking.

Leaks - When a unit rusts and leaks as a result, the ammonia gas is lost first. You can sometimes smell the ammonia gas. However when the door is opened or if the leak is small there can be little or no smell. Under these circumstances there could be a boiling sound at the back of the refrigerator. This means the hydrogen gas has also leaked out and the water is now boiling. Ammonia smells or large gurgling sounds from the refrigerator are indicators that the refrigerator cooling unit is leaking.

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Interesting! Did you remove a shield that was there before? The only time I have had a problem like that is when we took the shield coving the pilot light area off and didn't put it back on right. You might want to check and make sure that everything is in place.
