Compatible is the key word. They have a connector that reset the internal counter. Usually a fuse or a pizo cell that recognizes the cartridge. It could be covered with ink or toner. But compatible means recharged in most instances. So try the old one again visually look at where the cartridge contacts the machine.and the connector could have came out of place or broken. Take it back they mite not have replaced the fuse when it was remanufactured. I know that there is a big price difference. This is a true case of "you pay for what you get". Stick to o.e.m. products and you will be a satisfied customer. Trust me on this one. Been there 35 years of experience.
