Mitsubishi HD1000U DLP Projector Questions & Answers
Annoying metallic winning sound from projector
Hello there! No, it most likely isn't the fan--but something more expensive--sorry. In DLP projectors, there is a small metal disk called a color wheel with red, green, and blue glass panels mounted around the edge. It spins extremely fast due to a little motor and gives you the color in your displayed image. Normally, when spooling up to speed, it sounds like a tiny jet turbine engine with a high pitch. If the bearings get worn due to age or heat, it can sound like your unit is possessed by a banshee! lol You'll definitely need to send the unit in for repair. Under warranty, GREAT! If not, send the unit to a repair facility directly--not through a store!

HC3800 Mitsubishi color wheel model or part number?
The Mitsubishi HC3800 projector uses a color wheel with the model number VLT-HC3800LP. This is the original color wheel that is designed specifically for the HC3800 projector, and it should be able to replace the existing color wheel in your projector. It is important to use the correct color wheel for your projector to ensure optimal performance and avoid any damage to the projector.
You can purchase the VLT-HC3800LP color wheel from Mitsubishi authorized resellers or from the Mitsubishi website. You can also check for other electronic resellers or online marketplaces for availability and pricing. I recommend you to confirm with the seller that the part is compatible with your specific projector model and serial number, before making the purchase.
It's also important to mention that, replacing the color wheel should solve the noise issue you're experiencing. But, it's always recommended to check the projector warranty status, or if the projector is out of warranty, consult with a professional technician before attempting to replace any part of the projector.
