Ah, the "Blue Screen Of Death".
Solution as follows:
To resolve this problem, start your computer in Safe mode, remove the display adapter, rename the .inf files that are associated with the display adapter drivers, restart your computer in Normal mode, and then update your display adapter drivers. The following steps describe this procedure in more detail:

- On the Windows Advanced Options Menu that appears, use the ARROW keys to select Safe Mode, and then press ENTER.
- Use the ARROW keys to select the operating system to start, and then press ENTER to start Windows XP in Safe mode.
- In the message that states that Windows is running in Safe mode, click Yes.
- Click Start, click Run, type msinfo32 in the Open box, and then click OK.
- Under System Summary, expand Components, and then click Display.
- In the right pane, note the information that corresponds to the INF File item, for example, Nv4.inf, Oem0.inf, or Atim128.inf.
- Quit the System Information utility.
- Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
- Click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.

Lenovo 3000 n200 laptop
the battery is on the main motherboard. to get to it:
1) remove all power supplies
2) remove the keyboard
3) remove the screws on the bottom, leaving the covers and the one that's holding the optical drive (there's an on/off button engravement nex to it)
4) flip it over and remove the cover around the keyboard, be careful with the connection cables, I think some need to be disconected
* you might need to remove the screen unit, too, but i don't think it's nececerry. also, the lenovo manual on the website might be helpful.
Lenove laptip 3000 n200 driver
all the drivers the laptop requires are on the lenovo website under Support and downloads. make sure you download the correct drivers, launch the downloaded files to extract them in a folder, and then install each one. after all of the installs restart the computer.
note of advice: be carefull with the bios flash upgrade. if you're not an expert, rather don't install it, some of the versions are not really appropriate for the n200 and cause big problems.
CMOS battery
Hi there.
Whatever you do don't short the pins by the HDD, this can cause damage, have a look at some of the pictures to give you an idea what some laptop bios/cmos batteries look like>>>
I hope this helps in your quest to find it.
Good luck and thanks for using Fixya!!
Fail to dected sound card and wireless network card.
You probably have to download and install the drivers again. when I repaired Xp I had to reinstall all 15 or so drivers. You can get them on Lenovo web page under support and downloads. Make sure you select the correct laptop model and stuff, or else one single wrong driver can make you need to reinstall the whole operating system again (been there). I only had some issues with the wireles (Broadcom), but works fine now. Or did, till I flashed bios and the laptop went coo-coo (stil working on that in FixYa)
Keyboard removing
if you need to remove the keyboard ...
there's a manual for this.
ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/42x3553_02.pdf
you start with the pannel with the on/off button, best to start on the right side with a flat screwdriver and pull it off. make sure the screen is pushed back far enough because the silver coverage of the screen screws goes of, too.
then you take off the keyboard, be gentle. first unwind the two black screws at the top. there are four of them, leave the ones on the blue circuit board alone.
when removing the keyboard be careful not to pull it off too qouikly, because the connection line is pretty short. to gett the line off, there are two grey handles on each side od the connection box on the circuit. push them towards the screen gently to unhook the connection line.
gist a question: where is the battery, or rather: what the hell does it look like?
on lenovo forums someone said that to reset the cmos, you need to circuit the contacts of the black and white cable next to the hdd. i thought the lead to the cmos, but now i saw the lead into the screen. so how exactly did he circut the cmos on those contacts?

Most Thinkpads have screws that fix the keyboard to the laptop. the screws are located on the bottom of the laptop and may have a a small keyboard symbol next to these screws.
After you remove the screws you can lift the keyboard off, there will be two ribbon cables which connect to the motherboard, you need to slide the plastic catches back before you can remove the ribbon cables.
