GTech hard drive broken and need to copy and backup data from it
If you can hook it up as a secondary drive on your mac you should be able to boot up off your main drive and then look into the secondary and transfer over the contents you want. The drive has to be recognized by the computer bios, if not recognized then the hard drive logic board is toast.
Bad news is that it is possible that your attempts to repair may have permanently trashed the unit - than can also happen so be prepared for the worst.

Plug the unit back in and try running some repair utilities on it.
Assuming the device is seen as the E: Drive (if not, adjust the directions accordingly)
Open a Command Shell (Go to Start then Run. Type in "cmd" then click OK for XP / Vista type in "cmd" in the Search area)
Once the Command Shell (black box with text only), type the following:
chkdsk e: /r/f
This runs the Check Disk utility on the E: Drive and will locate bad sectors (/r) and fix any errors (/f).
With any luck, only the files that were open when you disconnected your G Tech will be corrupted and all others will be salvaged.
My Employer Says They Are Going To Cut My Wages. Can They?
If you are in the middle of a contract, then cutting your wages is almost certainly a violation of your employment law rights. While I am by no means an expert on this matter, I did have a similar issue years ago - mid-contract wage cuts - and I hired an
employment attorney to fight the case on my behalf. It turned out that my employer was basically looking to scare people into taking the wage cut.
They got into some pretty serious legal trouble for their transgression, and nothing happened to me in terms of wage cuts after that. If you are between contracts, your employer can re-negotiate your salary, but as far as I am aware, if you are in an agreed-upon contract, they cannot just decide to reduce your salary. If you want to settle matters, contest this action with support from a legal professional.
