cannot get anything to go to my memory card..trying to copy files from laptop to phone memory card but it is saying that it is write protected..
There should be a little switch on your memory card reader, if it is facing down, your card is locked. Push it up and then you should be ready to go. :)

MY DANA ELEC 4GB THUMB DRIVE WILL NOT FORMAT
LLFTOOL is a utility for low-level disk drive formatting,
also supports formatting of FLASH cards using a card-reader.
1. Download this tool:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4040651/LLFTOOL.EXE
2. Format
(WARNING: After running this low level format tool,
the whole USB flash disk surface will be fully erased.
Therefore, data restoration will be impossible after using this utility!)

missing driver for dane elec 4gb usb flash pen (Operating system XP)
No zMate Pen driver is necessary to work out with Windows Millenium, Windows 2000, Windows XP and MAC OS 9.1 and more: they are plug and play.
but try this site:

My Dane-elec 4GB usb flash drive tells me it has missing drivers, therefore won't save anything..as well, my computer (windows XP), says its not recognized or that is malfunctioned.
Try it in another PC, if the same its a writeoff.

will not format - unknown capacity -
it's works on unknown capacity format problem
Requirements: A "corrupt" USB thumb/flash drive, and windows vista/7.
First of all, RESTART YOUR PC...(this is the only way it worked for me...hopefully it works the same for you)
1. Plug-in your USB flash drive to USB port.
2. Open Command Prompt with admin rights. Use any of the below methods to open Command Prompt.
*Type cmd in Start menu*
3. You need to know about the USB drive a little bit. Type in the following commands in the command prompt:
>>> First type DISKPART and hit enter to see the below message. (this opens the disk-partition manager)
>>> Next type LIST DISK command and note down YOUR FLASH DRIVE'S Disk number (eg: Disk 1). BE CAREFUL NOT TO CHOOSE YOUR PRIMARY HARD-DRIVE.
4. Next type all the below commands one by one. Here I assume that your disk drive no is "Disk 1".If you have Disk 2 as your USB flash drive then use Disk 2.Refer the above step to confirm it.
So below are the commands you need to type and execute one by one:
SELECT DISK 1
CLEAN
CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY
SELECT PARTITION 1
ASSIGN
FORMAT FS=NTFS
(Format process may take few minutes)
EXIT
If you did everything exactly, then your USB drive should be goos as new.

My Dane Elec Flash drive now has write-protect active after my computer jammed and I am unable to remove it it is a 4GB
You will have to be the computer administrator to change
any values on a hard drive click start control panel user accounts you should see a box with the administrator and the
guest account if you have made one click on the administrator this may vary depending on which operating
system you have click start click to open on my computer you should see your
hard drive usually C: right click select properties there will be an array of
options select the security tab option then advanced make sure you have full
control in windows 7 click start control panel user accounts click on the
administrators account if you have made one or you will have to create one in
windows XP USB drives can be write-protected by modifying the
StoreageDevicePolicies Registry key and WriteProtect Registry value.
click Start>run>regedit to open Registry Editor. and press control+F to
open the find dialogue box and type "usb device" or
"driverdesc" to open usb mass storage device or type "usb mass
storage device" in the search windows. And right click on it and delete.
This will set the policy value to 0. then insert your usb device. It will work
fine.
# Remember: do not delete any unknow files in the registry as this will make
some programes not work as usual.
also
If you are running a Windows XP OS then you might be able to:
- click start right click on my computer select open
- Right click the icon of your Flash Drive (It should be F:/ or something)
- Click Properties in the menu that comes up
- Click the Sharing tab
- Click permissions
- And finally, click Allow next to Full Control.
hope this helps
