First check the connection lead is good. Any fault on that will make any item become "unknown".
If you still have problem get Windows to search fr the drivers for it and install them with the disc provided with the Zen.

I switched the hide protection to show and then when i hit menu on the folder i wanted to protected it gave me the option to hide it. Then i went back and choose hide protected and it was gone, works perfectly

you can go to a mp3 website and download or if you have music on your mp3 just simply go to where you play your music and hit sync from mp3 or the device

MP3 players can only play music files in mp3 file format. You can download mp3 music files from the Internet to your computer and then copy them to your MP3 player using the USB cable. For your CD collection, you need to convert your CDs to mp3 music files onto your computer or download them from the Internet and then copy them to your MP3 player after you have connected the USB cable to the MP3 player and the computer.

Try another PC or another USB port
Make sure the hold/lock is not engaged
Reset
Check for firmware update on Creative's website
Get Recovery Tool from Creative
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

Creative Zen – Formatting
Step by step instructions for formatting a player
1. Detach the player from the PC if it is connected, and turn off the player.
2. Press and hold the Play button while powering on the player.
3. When the player displays the Creative logo, release the Play button
4. Select Format (All) and select Yes to format the player.
5. After the player has finished formatting, select Reboot.
6. Re-transfer the tracks to the player.

try on google and it will show you the link to download it..

This converter helps you convert your videos to any format, flv,avi,mpeg,mp4 etc..

did you try to push the restart button? its an itty ***** button that you need a pin or a paper clip end

1st, try plugging in your mp3 player to your computer and see if anything happens to the screen. If it stays white, then it is probably a hardware error and you should contact the manufacturer and see if you can get it fixed. If the screen changes to some icon, then its probably a software error and you should try to reset your device from the software that came with the mp3 player.
If neither of those options suit you, then you should try to remember what you did right before it went blank. If it was in your pocket or something and you sat on it, then the screen is probably broken. If you recently got a new SD card or similar storage device, then you should remove it and wee what happens. If it is a hardware issue then the only way to resolve it is to try to buy a replacement part online, or to send it back and try to get a replacement one at a lower cost.

Hello

Connect the Zen to a PC via usb and see if it jump starts,if it doesn't then hit the Reset button(or rather, hole) at the bottom and booted again. It should start working again properly.
