Remove the base by taking out the five screws. Look for the ribbon cable on the left hand side. On each side of the cable is a little brown nub, pull away from the circuit board to release the tension. Pull the ribbon cable out, this will reset the circuit board. Put the ribbon cable back in and push the nubs towards the circuit board. This will add tension to the connection. Put the base back together using the 5 screws. Plug in your phone and you should be set.

We had the same problem. Unplugging the unit and restarting it again solved the problem.

With a different phone that you know works, make sure you have dialtone at the jack the base is plugged into. check to see if the battery is connected properly is it charging? you may want to clean the contacts with a regular pencil eraser.

I called Panasonic on this problem....ended up sending the unit back for a free replacement. Guess thats the solution for this problem.

It sounds like the phone system base station is burned out.
