Patio Classic 4000 Series Grill - Page 5 Questions & Answers
I put a new burner assembly, I have the same problem. The first of three plaques won't light correctly.
In the past I have owned several portable gas room heaters of a similar design and I remember needing to blow gently across the unlighted radiant of two of them before it would light.
I am not absolutely certain but I seem to remember the centre radiant of the heater that worked well was slightly different in that at each bottom corner there was a slightly bigger hole that allowed a little tongue of flame to emerge at an angle so when 2 or 3 radiants was selected they lit without hesitation.

My grill is not getting gas and has a new tank
First, check and inspect the tank's propane level to make sure that the tank has gas. Next, reset the pressure regulator to restore gas flow through the regulator if the regulator's flow limiting device tripped. Replace the pressure regulator if it does not allow the gas to flow to the manifold after resetting the flow-limiting device.

IS MY BACKYARD CLASSIC BBQ GRILL CONVERTIBLE TO NATURAL GAS?
Theoretically yes though it is so unlikely a conversion I would be surprised if the jets and mixing chambers are available from the manufacturer. Natural gas has a relatively low calorific value so a much larger volume of gas is needed than butane or propane.
I haven't heard of anyone commercially bottling natural gas though small scale private bottling is quite successful, harvesting natural gas (methane) from sewage treatment plants. In the absence of bottled methane the has would have to be delivered from the domestic supply via a flexible hose or a permanent metal pipe.

How to replace barbecue lighter
In order to change your ignition case, you need a new one. There are two options here, the first and better one being to find a dealer who offers an exact match of your current, original ignition box. The second option is to buy a universal ignition kit. No matter which one you pick, here are the steps to carry out the replacement.Unscrew the visible front part of the button/switch (you may need a wrench)The ignition housing (probably box-shaped) on the backside of the control panel is now loose – bring it closer to you, so you can see well the attached wires (maybe 3 or 4)Look carefully at the way wires are connected to the case and remember it, then disconnect each of themTake the new ignition case (replacement kit) and plug-in wires to the appropriate portsPut the new BBQ ignition casing where the old one wasAlign it well and screw back the front part of the igniter button
