If you have a spare graphics card, I would try that (for the pixellation issues).
As for the shutdown, it could be an overheating component like a CPU that isn't making good contact. It could also be a mainboard problem. I would try to address the video card issue first in case it resolves the other problem as well.
But otherwise I would check for overheating components, like a chipset, CPU, or even the mainboard. You can use a laser thermometer to check this.Also inspect the capacitors for blown, damaged capacitors; (see above) if you find damage there the mainboard is toast, and replacing it can be done, but it end up costing quite a bit unless you can do it yourself. Sometimes a new machine is a good alternative if this is the case.

A loose contact on the SATA bus ports (a red colour cable connecting Hard disk and motheboard) is the most commom reason. It becomes hard and shrinks after a period of time causing poor data flow.... Remove Power from PC gently push the SATA cable, Plug it back and try to start PC

This most likely one of two things.
Either you have changed your screen resolution (can be adjusted by right clicking on desktop and changing settings - exact options vary depending on OS)
Or you may have accidentally activated your browsers zoom function try pressing "ctrl" and "-" to zoom out or "ctrl" and "+" to zoom in.

Try hitting the delete key over and over at boot up. If you can get to BIOS, you can disable the splash screen, and also make sure that the boot order is correct. Try to put your hard drive as first boot priority. Also, remove any CD's in the drives.

there is either a motherboard/cpu issue (worst case), or a power supply issue (best case, cheap and easy fix)...

without being there looking at it i can't really tell you more. if you happen to have a spare ATX power supply, open the machine and plug it in to the system instead of the old one to see what happens.

if you don't have a spare, you obviously have another working computer you're posting from so maybe borrow it's power supply and see what happens.

first step to determine the damage and is again re-work order, open the cover of the CPU and remove the following parts, the first memory is the second video card and third is the IDE cable connectors, clean the small feet and the second memory is please clean feet video card if it is you video card, good luck

it is typical hardware problem of vga card check is it in built or what u can use another vga card buy a new one according to ur system and it will be resolved , also first check that at the vga terminal all holes are ok in the socket nothing is stopping the vga pins to go in socket otherwise u socket on the vga card is faulty u can get it replaced and check if u like but it is not a software issue i am sure its an hardware issue i told u the solution

Sounds like the processor is overheating. Check to make sure that the processor fan is running and that the heat snyc is secure.

This monitor may not have built-in speakers. It may have supported Gateway's monitor mounted sound bar. That sound bar connected to the 3.5 mm audio out on a computer and a DIN port on the monitor. The simplest solution is to connect your source to appropriate speakers. Depending on your audio setup, you could connect the video source to a receiver with HDMI IN and HDMI Out (ARC), computer speakers or an audio extractor. (If you are using an HDMI cable between the Gateway LP2417 and a computer, you may need to reset the audio output to use basic computer speakers (3.5mm jack).) No you don't need a driver. These are very plain powered speakers that come with a mains adapter and a lead with a 3.5mm stereo jack at both ends. Plug one in the speaker and the other into the headphone jack on the front or the speaker socket on the back which will either be a socket on the motherboard, or if your son put a sound card in the computer, it will be in a sound card. If it doesn't play straight away, go into Settings - Audio and make sure the sound card or the On-Board Audio is enabled.
