From various reviews from folks who own the Patio II, I'm guessing 1998-2000. I have a Patio I that was purchased in 1996. It just died and I purchased a used Patio II so I have been researching this model. Also, found some videos on Youtube from repairing/rebuilding to how to cook on one.

If you removed the old one, all you need to do, is match the connection of the wire(s) to the old Igniter Module. There should only be one or two wires.

If you have misplaced your Owner;s Manual, I have provided a link.to it, that you can download & print for future reference. http://www.appliancefactoryparts.com/content/pdfs/126280-1.pdf

I hope this helps you and thanks for choosing FixYa. Happy Grilling!!

Here is a link, where you may find most of the parts you'll need. The burners are not inexpensive. But if you really enjoy using this grill, price may not be an issue.

Installing the new parts yourself shouldn't be to difficult. Patience and time are what you need.
Also, having an Owner's Manual will help too.

Now, that I have armed you with just about everything you need. It's up to you.

I hope this has helped and thanks for choosing FixYa. Happy Grilling!!

Assuming you are talking about the TEC Patio II grill. it is made by the Thermal Engineering Corporation of Columbia South Carolina http://www.tecinfrared.com/home.php. the burners are sold as complete replacment parts as well as pieces of the burner sold seperately. It has a ceramic insert as part of the infrared burner. You may replace just that portion if that is all that is bad. if this has failed on your grill I would highly suggest spraying the four bolts that hold it in place (visible from the top of the grill with grates removed) with a penetrating oil several times over several days before attempting to remove them. Mine came out just fine and the grill is 12 years old. I love this grill even though there is a built in 12000 dollar grill on my patio.good luck

Hi, It sounds like your ceramic elements are cracked and will have to be replaced. This can happen when cold juices drip directly onto the red hot ceramic elements. The cracks can sometimes be hard to see. The latest generation of TEC grills have done away with these ceramic elements

The ceramic burner is cracked. It will need to be replaced -- pretty pricey. I have the same problem on my Sterling III. This DOES happen too often. My opinion is that this is a manufacturing defect. I have called the company about it (they are in South Carolina) and they try to blame the user -- that would be us. Very unfortunate company chooses to act this way. You hear about this problem again and again and again -- it's their problem but sadly, they are making it ours. Remember that when you go grill shopping next time -- I know I won't buy a Sterling grill again. Ever.

Before I get into how to replace the Ignitor Module, I have to ask ... Have you replaced the battery?

If not, the battery can be accessed by loosening the outer ring of the ingnitor button. The button will come of and yo will see either one AAA batter or one AA battery. Make note of the direction the head (+) of the battery is facing, because when you replace it with a new one, out of the package, alkaline battery, it must be facing the same direction.

If a new batter still doesn't solve the problem, there may be a loose wire going to the ignitor head inside the grill. Trace the wire(s) down to check this. In you can reach the ignitor head inside the grill, slide the wire off the bottom of the head (it's just pushed up on what will look like a large pin). Then push it back on. This will reestablish the ground. Also, check the spark portion of the ignitor to make sure its not covered with grease. If it is, clean it off with a cotton ball dipped in alcohol.

If none of the above solves your problem, you can remove the Ignitor Module by unscrewing the retainer ring, that is around the portion of the ignitor on the front of the control panel of the grill. The Module will then be removable from underside of the control panel.

The new module should come completely wired, which means you will have to run the new wires to the Ignitor head that I previously mentioned, as well as the ground.

Hope this helps you solve your problem. Please let me know if I can be of further help.

Happy Grilling!!!

Hi, You will need to remove the front face plate. There are 4 phillips head screws holding the face plate on - one in each corner. Remove the screws wth a #2 phillps head screw driver. Once the face plate is removed you will have access to the orange pilot assembly wire. Simple plug the orange wire into the igniter on the face plate. Bolt the face plate back in place.

With your gas supply off - turn your rotary ignter and make sure there is a spark present at the pilot assembly.

You can try to remove the parts, soak them in Simple Green, wire brush with a tooth brush or brass wire brush. Should work just fine.
