Dear The scanner assy. may be jammed or the CCD/CIS may defect(rare case), The smps may have leaky capacitors cusing to fail to attend full load capacity. The scanner assy. may be checked for dust dirty, smps may be replaced with new or repaired. Thanks.

If you are talking about a printer that is hooked up to a computer make sure the printer is selected by the computer to print. Go to the control panel and to printers and enable this printer. It may read "make this my default printer.

Scan head mechanism failed. Remove flat bed glass, take out scan head unit, verify any breakage in mechanism gear pinion,if found replace gear mechanism, if no breakage found replace scan head driving motor. You can see the scan head mechanism as snap shot..followed by how to alter the pinion..For tech guys:How to alter the pinion.Follow the snapshots, be patience & do it. This is available part if anything goes wrong don't worry.. Best of luck....
