I got your issue, You have an option to change the IP address of the router

1. Open Internet explorer and in the address bar type 192.168.2.1 and hit enter

2. You will be logged into the belkin router setup,it will ask for login password, leazve it blank and click on submit

3. In the left side Under LAN setup , click on LAN sttings

4. You can see the IP address of the router as 192.168.2.1, if you want you can change the ipaddress

Note : You cannot change the IP address of the router similar to the comp and your XBox

But You can change the ipaddress of the comp and Xbox in the range of the router

For eg: If your router is 192.168.2.1, then the Xbox can have as 192.168.2.2 and computer may have as 192.168.2.3

Not sure what event happened to make the router not accept your password, but the easiest way to fix it is to reset the router back to the mfg settings and go in and setup your password again. There is a small button on the back of the router. Press and hold it for 10 seconds. Then type http://192.168.2.1 in a browser, and log back in with Administrator as the user and leave the password blank. This will let you back in.

the router will NOT provide an internet connection without the use of the modem. just plugging the pc into the back of the router, without a modem in place, will not work.

my best guess, as to why the laptop works is that you may have a broadband connect card.

windows one care must have a switch for wireless access. you need to find it and turn it off.

Reset your router reapply the security and encryption , and you should be back to square 1, if that issn't enough roll back the changes in windows by doing a restorw back to the day before this program changed the settings, these so called cleaning or reg clean programs can cause more damage than they are worth

If it's a linksys router run it on the DMZ port. They leave one open for that reason. Other routers may vary, but all have either an unprotected port or port forwarding

maybe your router is not using the 192.168.2.1 ip address anymore. the only way to enable the security is to access the router's page but if you want you can run the installation cd again since it'll ask you if you want to secure your network but you need reinstall everything just like you installed it out of the box.
or you can just check the ip address of your router.

here are the steps

- use a hardwired computer and access the command prompt (for windows computers, click on start, then click on run, then type cmd)
- it'll prompt you now with a black screen, on the blinking cursor, type ipconfig/all
- take note of the default gateway address that's the ip address being used by your router
- enter the default gateway's address on address bar of your browser and it shoould prompt you for the username and password, enter the username and password of your router
- it'll prompt you now with the roouter's page, click on the wireless part and set up your security

ok... so I've now installed this on my new pc that i built... first in order to get it to install at all you must download DirectX 7.0 and right click to "--(edit compatibility settings to windows 98/Me and run as administrator)--" remember this as well be doing it a few times. once you do that install DirectX 7.0 and say yes to all. now that this is installed take the .iso file you have and burn it to a cd or DVD-r, once burned you need to go to my computer and right click on the cd/DVD drive, select open (NOT open autoplay), inside the disc menu i want you to go to 2 files... "setup" and "start" need to also have their compatibility settings changed to the above settings. now that these are set stay in the cd menu and double click "setup" this will take you through the setup procedure. after the setup procedure is finished do not view the notes, and continue back to the desktop. now from your start menu load the game and it should run

you need more than a wireless adapter to connect to the internet......

to get to the internet , you will need.

A broadband connection (ADSL / Cable) this normally comes with a standard NON wifi modem
A WiFi Router (including ADSL / Cable Modem) depending on what you have already.


then to link a remote PC / Laptop to this network, A suitable wireless adapter ( like your belkin adapter)

it is a common misconception that a wireless adapter is all you need (advertising is vague)

Do a hard reset,usually there is a button on the back of the router.With power plugged in,press and hold reset button 15 sec. then without releasing button remove power plug and hold an additional 15 sec.,then plug power cord back in and hold an additional 15 sec. After that release the reset button and it should reset to default.You may need to do this a few times but it should solve your issue.

Using the reset button The location of your range extender's reset button will vary depending on its model. The reset begins once you press and hold thereset button for at least 10 seconds while the range extender is powered ON. Using the web-based setup page If using the physical button does not work, you can access the range extender's web-based setup page and do the reset from there. Before you begin:

• Make sure that the wireless computer or device you're using to access the web-based setup page is connected to the same network as the range extender.
• You need to identify the IP address that your router has assigned to your range extender. Locate this by accessing your router's DHCP Client table. Once you have the range extender's assigned IP address, use it to access your range extender's web-based setup page.
• Alternatively, you can enter "http://192.168.206.1" in the web browser's Address bar if your range extender has NOT detected a DHCP server in your network.

Step 1: In the web-based setup page of the range extender, go to Utilities and select Restore Factory Defaults. QUICK TIP: You may be prompted to log in with your range extender's administrator password. If you have not set any, simply leave the field blank and click on Submit. Step 2: Click on the Restore Factory Defaults button. Your Belkin range extender should now be restored to its factory default settings.
