Windows 10 is the reason. It has picked either the wrong drivers or the wrong resolution. Start up in safe mode and go to your manufacturers web site to download the correct drivers.

In some cases its removing the CMOS battery inside the laptop and powering on with no main battery and no charger connected. Before putting it back together. The CMOS will not only loose the password, but it will also loose its settings including the time and date.

If you can load the laptop otherwise, Toshiba used to offer a windows tool for changing some CMOS options including unconditionally changing the password.

This can happen if the had drive fails, or if the BIOS "forgets" what device it is supposed to boot from. That can happen if the motherboard CMOS gets reset or if the CMOS battery wears out. Go into the BIOS and check that the hard drive is being recognized. This is usually depicted on the main screen. If it is not seen, there is a good chance there is a hard drive problem. If is IS there, then check in the advanced options to ensure that the hard drive is listed as the first boot device.

Either locate the video cards settings page and if available it will allow you to stretch the display to fit the screen

If your TV has the ability, choose a native resolution like 720 or 1080 and locate the picture settings on the TV and look for anything to do with Display Ratio, you can play around here but you will want to find 1:1 , it will fill the screen exactly to the resolution you have picked on the computer.

Intel onboard cards have a utility that allows you to stretch the screen, if you need further help, let me know what video card the laptop has and i will be able to step by step the fix.

Just look for the 1:1 ratio first, it's your best bet.

this could be an issue of your computer not being able to display the notifications correctly, or there could be service related issues wherein the computer is unable to install the updates as the software is not recognising the same.

check the services, proxy, antivirus settings .. run a disk cleanup and scan the registry.

if the touchpad is not working, then it could be both a hardware and a software issue. you need to check the drivers first, and need to make sure that latest ones are installed.

try using safe mode with networking.
if that does not help, then call 1-877-805-1027 for expert help.
