Generally, CMOS batteries on MOST current portables is not removable, why are you wanting to remove it? If you are trying to reset a HDD or BIOS password, removing the battery will not resolve.

i see that you tried the chicony camera driver and it did not work, have you tried downloading the Bison Driver for your camera to see if it will work?

also you mentioned that the Fignerprint reader does not work as well, and you also mentioned that you installed XP on the machine. If i may ask what windows do you have originally on your machine before installing XP because on a Lenovo machine it is big NO to install a different version of Windows from what it Originally had for the reason that some device may not be detect even if you are in stalling the correct drivers.

The Lenovo Windows is an OEM Version and does not have the same files like the Microsoft windows some of the OEM files are altered for lenovo purposes only and if you will install a retail version of windows then you may need to update your system BIOS to be able to make some of the system device s work as normal.

try reinstalling the system back to the original windows that it had before, you will again be able to use the Fingerprint reader and the camera using the same driver you had before.

Try the following tips to see if you can get the Desktop icon back.

1. Right click the desktop
2. Select View -> Show Desktop Icon
3. Make sure the option is checked.


If this does not work, then you can try and go into the installation directory for your webcam software. For example, when you install the Webcam software, it may be installed in C:\program files\webcam brand name



In the installation folder you should have a .EXE file. If you right click on the .EXE file you can then select "Send To" then select "Desktop(shortcut).


You can also use this method by going to Start > then in the search box type the name of your webcam and you should get a list showing your webcam program. You can right click this and create a desktop icon as well.

Hi. I think the problem on that one is that the camera on your laptop is just disabled. To enable it you just need to press and hold the Function (Fn) button + Escape(Esc) on your keyboard to enable it then you can now use your veriface software. If not just try closing the veriface screen and try using your password instead. If not you need to uninstall your veriface software and download it from the lenovo driver support website and install it again on your machine and you need to enroll again your face for the security. By the way here is the website consumersupport.lenovo.com, you just need to enter the serial no of your machine and it will give you every software and drivers available for your machine. Turn off the computer then keep on tapping F12 key. This will give you options where you want to boot the computer. Select your Harddrive then press enter. Computer should boot up now to windows.

the wireless enable switch could be on the front of the laptop it should have a little picture on or beside it that looks like a mini satellite dish may be a slide switch if so slide over to the right to enable it or if a push key then push once
