Your restore disks also use fdisk and format to do the same thing you did this way by reformatting, but without all these extra hassles. Do you have a primary partition that is in active status? to check use a Windows boot disk or an MS Dos boot disk making sure that they have fdisk.exe,format.com,sys.com,and scandisk.exe
1.run fdisk and select option 4(display partition information)
2.if the partitions are listed then look for an uppercase A in the status column of your primary partition
3.if there are no partitions listed use fdisk to create new partitions and then use format to format the partitions.
4. then try your restore disks they should work, if you have already done all of this email me
