Contact Sensor HP error, Failure in return
When the same error repeatedly occurs after several times of turning the power OFF/ON, execute the following remedies.
(1) Check the connection of Flat Cable between Main Controller Board (J5) and Contact Sensor.
(2) Replace the Flat Cable between Main Controller Board (J5) and Contact Sensor.
(3) Replace the Contact Sensor.
(4) Replace the Main Controller Board.
What should i do with error e100-0001 on mf4410. i changed fuser film and when i closed the all the panels the machine falshed this error code e100-0001.
e100's on canon designate laser failure. there is a mechanical laser shutter that is opened when the front doors are closed. if you look at the door actuators on the inside tops of the door you will see they intersect with the actuators on the machine, make sure everything looks good in that area and the doors close properly. if the laser shutter is not actuated open the bd mirror will not receive the laser light resulting in an error state.The laser shutter actuators are located behind the toner hopper.
I had the same problem. It turned out my printer was set to print on the "Canon Fax" printer rather than the regular Canon printer. So I changed the printer on the print box screen and was able to print as usual.
Troubleshoot this issue step by step:
Check the Feed Selection Lever:
Ensure that the Feed Selection Lever (located on the lower left side of the front of the scanner) is in the correct position (up) for separation.
Straighten the edges of the stack of documents to be scanned.
Set the document guides so they are wider than the document to be scanned.

Hold the upper unit as shown in the diagram and open it to the point where you can remove the jammed document. The pickup roller is located in the middle of the upper unit. Do not hold the protrusion on the upper unit when opening it, as it may deform the pickup roller or cause a feeding error.
Close the feeder cover.
If the jam occurred in the feed section, pull the document out carefully without applying too much force. Be sure to remove any torn parts remaining in the scanner.
Close the upper unit slowly, ensuring it clicks into place. Do not force it to close, as this may damage the scanner.
After removing the jammed paper, check if the last page was scanned, and then continue scanning.
Rapid Recover System:
If a paper jam occurs when the "Rapid Recover System" is enabled in the ISIS/TWAIN driver settings, the image of the document is not saved, and scanning stops. You can continue scanning from the document that caused the paper jam after fixing the issue.
Additional Considerations:
Make sure the pickup rollers retract when the machine is powered on.
Check that the stopper plates are in the down position.
Verify that the upper unit is completely closed after clearing the jam.

I would use a soft toothbrush and a little Isopropyl Alcohol and then a lint free cloth and then give another gentle brush. There are some other ideas here. Take no notice of the answer by 'Marvin' on Fixya about dropping the head in boiling water, I think he thinks he is dealing with a colour inkjet printer.

You mentioned that you have already replaced the Laser Unit, but the error persists. Here are a few more steps you can try:
Check the cable: Ensure that the cable connected to the Laser Scanner Unit is properly attached and not damaged.

Is there a paper roll in it? I have seen them do this as the calculator is trying to feed the roll edge. You can turn printing off, but most need a roll in place. There is a repair video for a similar machine.
