This could be as simple as a defective HDMI cable. Have you tried connecting anything else with this cable? Have you tried another HDMI cable?

In case of your laptop the easiest method would be using software from Hiren's Boot CD as it's pretty hard to open it up and reach for the CMOS battery or the jumper and I wouldn't recommend doing it especially if it's under warranty.

You'll need a cable that will connect from the computer to the tv. The easiest way is if you get a cable that will have the same type of connection for both the tv and the laptop. Otherwise you will need to have an adapter that will go between the two.Once you have them connected by a cable then turn the tv on and select the input (source) which in most cases will be PC or Computer or HDMI etc. Boot the laptop and the image should appear on the tv. If not you will have to Press and Hold the FN function key near the bottom left on the keyboard then hit the F1 thru F12 key that toggles the display. The correct F1 thru F12 key to hit will have LCD/CRT on it or it will have the icon of a display.

backup your data first in any external source. insert bootable cd of xp and boot from it. follow the instruction and finish the installation after that install required drivers and apps. in starting you need to select boot from cd., can be select-able from bios and also by pressing f12.

If the laptop was opened up, (ALL power removed -> AC adapter and battery; PLUS -> anti-static precautions taken!), and the laptop has a power on switch, (under the power on button), that plugs into the motherboard; you can unplug the switch, and touch the motherboard contacts to try to turn the laptop on. (Sorry about the run-on sentence) Jump a wire or similar, across the contacts, and see if the laptop turns on. Could try to be more specific, and detailed, if you had listed more info about the Fujitsu Lifebook. Such as it's Series number and Model Number. Example: Fujitsu Lifebook E8210. Recovery disc comes from the manufacturer and looks for the serial number of your computer. You would have to buy a recovery disc from the said manufacturer or just go buy a new operating system CD
