there are 3 posibilities...either the lcd is gone ...and in this case you need to replace it ...or the connection ribbon it either damaged or it is out from the plug ...or ..there is the 3rd possibility what the laptop is on the external monitor set-up ..and in this case you have to enable from the video driver the no1 monitor ..,,just plug the external to have control ...and press the Fn key ..and the f key with the monitor symbol on it ..usually it is the f4 key ..but pay attention onthe symbol and that it is the hot key for enabling and disabling the monitor ..
Another thing you can do is to go to bios by pressing the F2 key on start ..and there engage the optimal factory defaults..and confirm ..and save changes by pressing the F10 key ..This should reenable the monitor if it was disabled by mistake ..
Another thing to keep in mind..is that even disabled the monitor should flash at least the logo on start if it is still functional ..if it is doing nothing at all.than it is damaged..and need replace ..
Delete, end and insert key do not work doyou have

Dell XPS M1210 laptop was set next to a speaker
It's due to the magnetic field interferences from the speaker. At the first place, you shouldn't keep it near the speakers.
Always keep speakers far away from the Monitor. Now turn off the monitor and turn it on again, hope it solve the problem. You may even need to restart the system.
Moving magnetic fields (such as from an electric motor) can cause
flickering when near a CRT screen. A static magnetic field, such as
from your computer's speakers, can cause color shifts or incorrect
colors in the area near the magnet. This color shift is caused by parts
of the screen becoming magnetized. Occasionally the color shift will
remain after you remove the source of magnetism. To help reduce or
eliminate the color shift, you can use the degaussing option on most
monitors. Most newer monitors automatically degauss when you turn them
on, while older monitors might require you do to it manually. Most
monitors have a button or menu option that enables you to degauss it
manually. Degaussing a monitor will de-magnetize the inside of the
monitor, removing the color shift. Unfortunately, if the monitor is
exposed to the source of magnetism for too long, degaussing will not be
able to clear it up, requiring you to repair or replace the monitor.
Just started getting a buzzing/crackling
The warrenty will be void if you choose to repair this yourself. I do not recommend opening the unit. But since its still under warrenty use it till you can get it to the tech. Just be sure to save everything important in case the harddrive crashes
Gaming issues
I would make sure you have the latest bios, and video drivers to start. Make sure you have all latest updates for windows. Make sure your hard drive is defragmented. Also make sure your computer is clean and that it is ventilating/cooling properly. If that fails I would just format and reinstall windows.
Hope that helps,
Lee
Xps m1210 won't start
Before getting to that point are you sure your battery and power adapter are functioning properly? You may want to try each seperately and see if you get a response.

Dell error code 2000-0142
Any error code for a hard drive isn't good, and should be reason to get a new one right away. So long as the drive is still able to be accessed, you have a chance of retrieving your data. There are free utilities to help you 'clone' the data to a new drive, but you may want to ask a tech-minded friend for help if you've never done it before. It sounds like the drive isn't dead yet, but is definitely on its way out. Good luck!

Disable mic on xps m1730
Right click on the speaker icon in the system tray (bottom right, next to the date/time) and select recording devices. It will give you a list of whatever devices you have on your computer that are designated to record sounds. Choose the on board microphone, right click, and select disable device.

Dell pc makes loud clicking noise like machine gun
Something is jammed in one of the fans ???
(there are at least 2 = one at the back of the power supply = should be easy to see - and one inside on the CPU heatshnk (harder to get to)
Else its likley the Power supply or monitor is 'shorting out' internally ..
If it's just 'ticking' it's likly your hard drive going bad (unless, of course, you happen to have a CD/DVD disc inserted into the CD/DVD reader ...sometimes these 'tick' during power-up as the PC tries to boot from the disc :-) )

Will not power up
I know this post is over a year old, but i feel like chiming in anyway. The motherboard may have suffered from cheap cap syndrome. This happens when the components used to populate the motherboard were poorly made with inferior products. The capacitor's may have swelled up to the point of uselessness. This would give you post errors, or no post, or even no power. This is not to rule out the power supply, but it is more likely the motherboard.
To test the power supply, unplug the big 20+ pin plug from the power supply to the motherboard, and use a conductor such as a paperclip to connect the one and only green wire in the mix to any black wire (there is a black wire on either side of the green one, you can use both)
If the power supply is still good, the fans and drives will come on and spin up when you make this jump with the paperclip.
If for some reason you notice the fans twitching but not spinning, then you know the power supply IS bad!

A cd is stuck in my lap top the tray will come out but the cd will not
With the tray open, visually inspect to ensure the cd is still in line with the spindle. Something long and thin (such as a thin knife or spatula) slide it between the top of the drive and the top of the cd.
Carefully tip the tool down to try and release the CD from the spindle. Do not attempt to force it! If it is not jammed in the drive, the CD should drop free. Carefully pull the CD out of the drive.
Look at the CD to see if it has been damaged from the drive. If the CD will not come out, it needs to be take to a repair service.

How do I get 2 FB accounts on Google
I suggest you use two different browsers. For example use two of Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, or Firefox under Windows; or Safari and Firefox under Mac OS X.
Use one browser to open your own FB account, and a different browser to open your wife's FB account. Once you have entered your username and password in each browser for the respective FB account, and don't delete cookies, each browser will remember your respective account.
To easily access FB when you open your browser, add the FB site to your Favorites or Bookmarks bar.
