Have a gateway M280 laptop that I need to replace
Hi there,
First off you would need to have a compatible motherboard for your machine (you can order this from the manufacturer of your computer). Before getting one you would need to consider what type of Memory do you have if it will be compatible for the new motherboard, the type of hard drive your computer uses. The video card and the USB ports if they will still be in the same location. Then you will need a set of precision screws to remove the small screws holding the back cover of the computer.
After removing the screws, check the sides for hinges you can pluck to completely remove the back cover. You would have to detach the keyboard and the LCD panel as well before you open the back of the laptop.
Once done put the replacement board in and one by one attach the old components to the new motherboard the secure the covers and the screws.
This may be easier said than done so please proceed with extreme caution as laptop components are more sensitive than their desktop counterpart.
If you would replace the motherboard of your computer I would suggest you think about it because a replacement board would cost you around $175 - $200 now if you'd just add about a $100 more it could get you a new computer from DELL or HP.
Hope this helps!
Gateway TabletM280e screen broken. What is needed
Assuming the screen is physically cracked, you need to obtain a new screen, remove the screen bezel by popping off the rubber caps and undoing the screws under them. The screen is fixed into position by two rails with small screws holding it into place. Remove these and the screen will be freed.
Disconnect the VGA cable and the smaller two wire plug that connects the inverter to the screen, replace the new screen and re assemble
How do I install a keyboard in a Gateway M280E
Power off and remove battery. Remove 2 screws on back cover marked with a K. Open display, gently pry off long thin silver panel between display and keyboard. With fingers at top of keyboard, pull up and flip top over toward ypu, then lay flat and upside down. Disconnect flat cable and remove the keyboard. Reverse steps to replace.
Fan continues to run
I don't think a Mercedes coolant problem will fix your laptop. The fan on most laptops runs all of the time. Many are sensor driven and the fan speed will increase with processor activity. If your fan seems to be running okay, and is not making too much noise, you may just need to take the unit apart and clean out the dust bunnies. They will greatly affect the heating properties. If you need a service manual for disassembly, it is available at mpcdrivers.com
Hi i like to install xp profecianal on my laptop
XP professional will not work on that unit. The OS will install and work properly but you will lose many of your tablet functions. You have to have the tablet pc edition for all comonents to function. You would not gain anything by going to Pro, and your Windows or Microsoft update will keep your current tablet pc edition updated properly.
