I'm looking for advice as to the best Bose input for SACD (contains 5.1 information) captured to FLAC and played back by computer (Analog Line out currently but considering adding digital out): 1. Bose Aux in 2. Bose Digital in Regarding option 1. The Bose manual states the following which makes me think that Aux is the right decision: Setting up a digital sound source Connect a DTV or DVD player's digital signal directly to the female RCA jack on the audio input cable. Connect the DVD player's analog signal output to the AUX inputs. If your Lifestyle® system receives a valid digital signal (including PCM or Dolby Digital bitstreams), this digital sound is used. If no valid digital signal is received, then your system selects the analog signal being sent to AUX, which is then processed by the Videostage® decoder for excellent home theater sound. If your digital audio source has an optical connector, you will need an adapter with an RCA (coaxial) connector. Consult your dealer or contact Bose® Regarding option 2. I've read the following (not in Bose manual): A coaxial digital audio connection is used to send S/PDIF digital audio signals between devices. It supports uncompressed PCM stereo audio as well as DTS and Dolby Digital 5.1/7.1 surround sound signals. It does not support DVD-A, SACD or high-definition audio such as DTS-HD Master Audio and Dolby TrueHD. So in summary: The Aux in is analog but processed by the Videostage® decoder. The Digital in supports 5.1 and should be cleaner/quieter being digital I expect. I'd be interested in onions from other that know for sure what's better or have done this. thanks

Hi guys I'm having quite a bit of trouble setting up my Soundtouch SA 4 AMP. I'm yet to do the IT course required to fix the issues with my music libraries not being found, but I'll get onto that when I have spare weekend to devote to tackling it. In the meantime i am wondering if someone can tell me how to connect a device directly to it via the auxiliary input. I was told by the reseller I purchased it off that I needed to use the aux port to connect my smart TV to the Soundtouch. However I can't find any mention of it in the manual or on the forums and have tried the headphone jack input but with no joy. I also use this feature often as I have the Soundtouch set up in my entertaining area....inevitably people come over and politely inform me that my taste in music is a little on the nose - so they plug their iPhone into the system to show me how to do it right! Sadly that happens way too often (Abba- Bee Gee's - where am I going wrong?). So please help - how do I connect audio devices directly into the Sountouch SA4 Amp without using Wi-Fi? Thanks

The buttons on my Series-II cubes get stuck all the time. It seems the button itself sticks against the housing. I first spray on a little bit of silicone to coat the sides of the housing that rub up against the button. Then I use a straight razor blade to pry in the gap between the button and the wiring-holes, alternating below each hole. As you do that, the button rocks out a little bit at a time.

I don't know the answer and I suspect few would. I had a friend who was a repair guy who often had calls from an office where somebody would tell him they had spilled tea or coffee or a soft drink on something that ceased to work. His first question was "did it have sugar in it?" If the drink didn't have sugar it was worth trying to resurrect it but if the drink was sugared it would be more economic to write it off. If something is just wet, I usually take off what covers I can to expose the innards and then dry what I can and then give it a couple of weeks... If the unit turns out to be ruined perhaps your domestic insurance covers that sort of accident?

You have your terminology wrong. It appears that unit is for a household rated voltage of 120 Volts AC. The AMPS is how much current it can supply. Have you tested the windings with a meter to see if they are broken or open / shorted? There is usually a fuse INSIDE those that opens then they get too hot. It is not easy to repair. BOSE is proprietary and does not publish the specs or schematics on their products. You can find that item on EBAY pretty cheap.

I have the same problem with my unit. The plug in wire is loose so if I move it a bit it works for a bit. Needs a new plug in.
