AT&T ATT-1855 Corded Phone - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
Can not hear dial tone or hear caller / can hear on speaker call
Most likely that it is the speaker on the handheld part of the phone. Your sound comes from the base itself when you put your current connection on Speaker-Call. So if you cannot hear the dial tone OR the person on the other end unless on "speaker" it's just the handheld and I believe there are places online you can purchase JUST that part if needed.

Hello,
what you are to do to solve this problem is to delete all or some vice mail message on the phone
Here are the step below
I want to do this!
What's This?
The
speaker phone Voice mail Service is a service provided by the Corp. that
allows you to store and check voice mail messages on your home land line
phone. Of course, because the size of the voice mail in box is not
unlimited, you will eventually need to delete some of your stored
messages to make way for new ones. Fortunately, this process is not
overly difficult, and you can accomplish it with a simple phone call.
Instructions
-
1
Dial your home phone number from your home land-line. This will bring you to the main menu of the speaker phone voice mail system.
-
2
Press the "*" key on your phone, and input your password when prompted by the computerized voice.
-
3
Press "1" to begin a playback of all your stored messages.
-
4
Press
"7" to delete each message in turn. Continue to press "7" at each
message until all the messages in your voice mail in box are deleted.
then your phone will work fine again

Whwre can i get the power adaptor please?
Go to AT&T's website and look for replacement parts, if you cant find them, contact a customer service rep and you should be able to order the part from them, if not they should be able to tell you how or where to get one.
I can hear messages being left but they won't play back
I had the same problem.
For some silly reason, there is an option of not leaving messages. You will see "AO" in the upper right-hand corner of the phone. This is for Announce Only.
To take it off:
Press/hold SET UP
Listen until you hear "Selected Announcement is A."
Press skip/repeat to save
(The other option is going to be the Announce Only which you don't want, so you can play around with the setting to make sure it's the right one.)
Call yourself to be sure you did it right.
You should now have numbers in the upper right-hand corner instead of AO.
