I replaced the ice maker as wel as the infra red sensor switch of my Whirlpool Gold fridge, and now the ice maker won't shut off any longer. The ice container keeps overflowing.

I'm not sure what would be the best way to fix it, but for now turn the water off so the ice quites overflowing.

Whirpool gold

Sounds like the unit may be stuck in to defrost . The defrost clock is usually inside of the refrigerator compartment up by the thermostat controls. you can take a screw driver and advance the controller to make the compressor come back on . usually when they start to stick they neeed replacing. good luck and please don't forget to rate the answer please. Thanks for using FixYa.

My water/ice dispenser child lock is stuck on and

if you hold the button in for three or five seconds and it doesn't respond you are out of luck,i looked up your model and the board you need is no longer available.if you go here and look at part number 23 and it's like 120 dollars they make you buy everything in the picture instead of getting the parts separately http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Whirlpool-Parts/Refrigerator-Parts/Model-GD2SHAXLQ00/1198/0165000/W0205059/00008?blt=06&prst=&shdMod=

Repainting doors on whirlpool white refrigerator

oowwwww!!! thats what we call in the refrig biz "refrig cancer" the door itself is actually rusting from the inside out. the older refrigs used fiberglass insulation inside the doors which has a tendency to hold moisture, and overthe years rusts through. the new door use blown-in poly styrene foam far less likey to hold moisture. That being said you could remove the door lightly sand and paint, can of krylon enamal aint should do it, at least for a little while anyway

Whirlpool Gold Refrigerator. GB22DKXJW01.

most likely it will be the defrost thermostat, you also have a timer down at the bottom right side i think where the condenser coil is.that also can be bad.it would be a good idea to change out the t-stat anyway so if your meter isn't working you can unplug the machine, cut the two wires going to the t-stat,wire them together, turn your timer to defrost with a regular screw driver, stick the driver blade into the middle of timer or you can turn this one by hand, turn it until the timer clicks and the evap fan motor stops,if the heater comes on you have a bad t-stat.call your local parts store, give them the model number and they will give you the part number.
