Hi, The filter is located behind the kickplate. You can see the handle for the filter in the kick plate. I believe you turn the filter handle Counter clock wise to remove it. It will tke a little bit of force. Yes this filters the water in the door.
Let me know If I canassist you further. Thanks
I have had this happen to me before. What happens is the water fill valve does not completely close and the tube will freeze shut as a small ammount of water will continuosly dribble into the tube when the valve shuts off causing the tube to freeze solid. I tried to clean the valve but that did not work so I replaced it and that ended the problem. A new valve is not expensive.
It sounds like the water inlet for your ice maker is now frozen. Blast a hair dryer around the waterinlet to the ice maker for 5-10 minutes, reconnect the ice-maker and you should hear the sweet sound of flowing water
Not at all. The icemaker is a seperate functioning part of the machine and only gets power from the electrical system. So the only two outside variables that can effect it is the machine losing power or the temperature not being cold enough for it to cycle.
hi. thanks for the question. To see if the problem is with the water valve, or ice maker. remove 1 wire from water valve ,at the back . now turn on the water . if water still flows. replace the water valve . if not replace the wire and try again .if flows replace ice maker. thanks the appliance doc
Most likely the problem is related to a defective water control valve on the dispenser side of the valve. If your model is the ED2FHEXN it will use the=> W10408179 Water Inlet Valve
You should always turn the water supply off before removing the filter cartridge just to insure less water clean up should a water valve be stuck open. At this point I still believe that the water control valve is at fault for not allowing water flow to the dispenser. Here is a parts manual=> ED2FHEXN Parts Manualand here is a link to your ED2FHEXN User Manual You may get some water flow spraying should there be a valve stuck open but that is not the cause of you not getting water to the dispenser. Your ice maker is still working right? I will be here should you have questions or comments, Thanks Sea Breeze
Dtot, does the flap shut all the way? Sounds like you are drawing moisture from the chute. The flapper should seat so that no air is being drawn in. I have seen a number of these Whirlpools where the pin and spring retainer has broken off from the dispensor housing causing this problem. They use to replace the whole freezer door because the dispensor housing is not a servicable part. They have now come out with a kit to address this problem. This is not a fun job for a first timer. You may want to contact Whirlpool and inquire about the aforementioned. If this is your case, there is a good chance they will cover it. Catriver..post back.
