I have the same problem. Thier is is a new driver on the d-link site, also d-link says to use xp's wireless manager, NOT the d-link utility. I haven't had a chance to try this but its a place to start.

this program has an uninstaller program that works very well,install it then click Utilities button,look for the three tabs to the right.Click on Admin Tools tab.
The uninstaller program is listed as Iobit Uninstaller not only will it remove that program it will remove any residual folders.Hope this helps,don't for get to rate....

you should check the compatibility of the drivers you are installing with your windows xp, it may be designed for vista or 7, then If it is already compatible, try to plug the card first and then run the setup.

Try to remove the preferred networks on your Presario then try connecting again. If you have wireless security enabled on your router, you have to enter that. Make sure that the settings on your router is the same as your wireless adapter so that they can synchronize.

If you have difficulty with that, just ask me and I'll answer as soon as I can.

Have you tried to uninstall the driver and letting windows install a generic driver?
if that doesnt work you can check the signal type. Is the wireless router b/g or n ?

Ok this sounds like a perplexing problem indeed... as a work around for now, I suggest that you download and install Firefox... www.firefox.com also get Opera www.opera.com Download these two alternate "Browsers" and install them ... I often find that when one browser will not work, often one of the "Others" will. You may actually find you prefer either or both of these over Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) It is possible that you may have a virus or malware... ensure you thoroughly check your system. Also if you haven't got IE7, please upgrade that too. as funny as it seems, most routers have their default password on the bottom or back of the unit. after you load or configure your router the first time you can sometimes change the password.

You can find the details of the operator and the state they belong to .the operators wont reveal the address and name of any mobile numbers only higher officials can only get those information.

I am sure it is now toast and you cannot downgrade if the wrong firmware has been installed. I would ask D-Link.

the manual is free , at dlink dot com you push the reset button for long time per manual 15sec (iirc) the release it and now all defaults are set. per the manual, google dir-655 manual. easy as pie if you just read the manual.

There's a reset button on the back of the router, it's a small button that you can press using a paper clip. Press it for 15 seconds to reset it.

Reset 1:
Press the reset button for 15 seconds at the back of the router while the router is on.

Reset 2:
Press the reset button for 15 seconds while the router is on after 15 seconds unplug the power cord while holding the reset button then count another 15 seconds and release the reset button. Then plug the power cord back in.

Reset 3:
Press the reset button for 15 seconds while the router is on after 15 seconds unplug the power cord while holding the reset button then count another 15 seconds and plug the power cord back in while the reset button is plugged in and count another 15 seconds release the reset button.
