My Philips dvdr 3450H if

Hi,
You are not alone...Some DVD players especially Philips wont read the DVD s and
then it show no disc..
Just to make sure that such DVD is ok ,you can try to run them on your laptop. If the disc has problem laptop does not read either..
HDD works independently and no relation to DVD reader..if your set has still under warranty ,consult to service they may replace the LASER EYE.. ("cross your finger ! " )...

Just in case, quick remedy ,I recommend to buy a "wet DVD/CD laser cleaner " from any store.it is available even in Walmart..And clean the laser eye at least twice..
YOUR DVD itself should be clean and finger prints free as well....
Hope this helps! Take care and please Remember to rate/vote and give me

I have philips dvdr3455h/37 when

What is "causing" the "blockage" is the stabilization idler mounted on a plastic piece spanning the top of the recorder. It is a plastic disc with a metal ring embedded in it. It clamps down on the DVD once its loaded. It is supposed to release when the eject sequence starts. The read/write head assembly is supposed to rise up to read a dvd or cd and drop back down to a rest position when its time to eject the disc. The head assembly is encased in a metal shell, which is already magnetized or has become magnetized. The mechanism pulling the head down is too weak to pull the head all the way down. It moves just a little bit, you hear some noise and the "blocked" message appears on the display. If you take the cover off, you see the dvd still in the "mounted" position, but it has moved a little bit, but the clamp effect of the stabilizer is still engaged

Two ways to fix this:

First, before you go inside, tap the area of the phillips case right where you imagine the dvd center to be, if one was loaded. Tap and hit open, you may break the magnetic link that way, the head drops, the tray slides out. Then always keep a dvd in the player to give the release motor a little help, use a scratched disc you were going to throw away anyway. Second, you need to open the case, pry the stabilizer up as high as you can, or tap on the plastic near its edge while pressing the "open" button. You may need a PC type screw driver to remove the very small screws that the stabilizer assembly is mounted on. This way you can at least get the disc without further damage to it. You might as well leave the screws off, if you plan to keep using the recorder. Click on the link below to download the user manual:

Dvd drive door won't open

You may have a damaged DVD. Try turning the power off. Look for a small hole in the front of the DVD palyer. You can usually stick a pin in there to release the door. Take out the DVD and try a different one.
If there is no DVD, the device may be disabled in WIndows. Two other causes could be that the power plug on back of DVD is off or the data cable is on backwards. If the DVD worked before, these are unlikely.

Dvd drawer will not open. just shows blocked

My 3 yo daughter was very rough on ours. I replaced the belt on the drive with an "o" ring after it continually showed "blocked" and I was away again. You could probably pick one up from your local electronics shop.

DVDR3455H cannot bootup

I had the same problems with my DVDR3455H, and have finally have it working again, although I don't know for how long.

First, the DVD drawer not opening is a common problem, reportedly caused by a magnet not letting the spindle drop. The solution I've seen elsewhere is to always keep a blank DVD in the drawer; it usually has enough weight to help the spindle disengage from the magnet holding it up. By the way, there is an emergency release slide on the bottom of the unit if it still won't open.

More important is the hard drive. I was finally able to get the unit to work after connecting the hard drive to a PC using a USB attachment and running a full format (NTFS) on the drive using SwissKnife. That actually failed after eight hours, but I was then able to run a quick format through Windows Explorer. I then put the firmware on a CD-R using Nero Express, put it in the drawer and powered on the unit. After a week of repeated LOAD/COPY/BOOTs after running quick formats on the hard drive, this time I got the FLASH1 message. From there, it was just a matter of following the on-screen menus.

I'm thinking it may just be a bit of luck, but I think the full format was the key. Note that this is still the same hard drive, so it could still fail again. I also ran Check Disk looking for and fixing bad sectors, prior to my final full format.

Hope this helps.

Dvdr 3455H/97 hard disk unable to reboot

from krystle i am an electronic tec:
what i have found the big difference between the philips dvdr3455h and the dvdr3575h is the
dvdr3455h boot from software on the hard drive and the dvdr3575h boot from an eprom.
the dvdr3455 has both booth software and movie edit software, if the hard drive become
bad in the 3455 or the software become corrupted it wil hang at the philips logo screen.
the dvdr3575h will boot with a bad hard drive or no hard drive at all you will you wont be able to
capture your video to the hard drive.
if the movie edit software become corrupt or damage when you press record button
it will just lock up the recorder.you will need a software reload if the software become corrupt.

if you need a reload on your hard drie email me i will tell you what you need to do my email is [email protected]
