Weber Q300 Grill - Page 7 Questions & Answers
I cannot start my Genesis
It may be a problem with the regulator, but before you remove the Hose/Regulator Assembly( you cannot remove just the regulator) do the following.
First be sure you have adequate gas in the tank. If that checks out OK, do the following:
1. Turn the gas tank valve OFF and disconnect the hose from the tank.
2. Wait 5 minutes and reconnect the hose to the tank.
3. Open the tank valve VERY, VERY SLOWLY (Slow motion, slow).
4. Once the tank valve is fully open, light the burner farthest from the tank first and set the burner
control knob on HIGH. Does the flame height look correct for being set on HIGH? If so, light
the remaining burners the same way. Do all the burner flames look correct? If so, you solved
the problem. Remember, to always open the tank valve Very, Very Slowly.
If that didn't solve the problem, you will need to replace the grill's entire
Hose/Regulator Assembly. It runs about $30.00 at any home center or
hardware store that sells grills & accessories. If you replace it,
turn the tank valve ON Very, Very Slowly.
Hope this helped you to troubleshoot and solve the problem. Happy Grilling.!! Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Weber gas grill is working
Greg, there are a couple of things that can be causing the problem your described.
1. Clogged burners and their venturi valves. This will require removing the burners to clean them thoroughly.
2. The gas regulator is partially locked up. To solve this, turn the tank valve OFF and disconnect the hose from the tank. Wait 5 minutes and reconnect the hose to the tank valve. Open the valve VERY, VERY SLOWLY (Slow motion, slow). Once the valve is fully open, light the burner farthest from the tank first and turn it to HIGH. If the flame height looks correct, light the remaining burners the identical same way. Now, do all the flame heights look correct? If so, you solved the problem. If not, you need to replace the grill's Hose/Regulator Assembly. You can pick one up at any hardware store or home center that sells grills and accessories. It runs about $30.00. Take your old one with you for comparison purposes. Once installed and hooked to the tank, open the tank valve Very, Very Slowly or you will have the same problem over again.

How do u put together the weber 1520?
If you have the instructions, that is generally the best way. Manufacturers typically have non-experts follow the draft instructions and then try to improve them based on comments. If you don't have the instructions, then the next best option is to go to the weber site to see if they are posted there and then download them. If you can't find the instructions, and you're sure you have all the parts, its probably best to start with the base, then attach the grill housing without the lid, then install the burners and gas pipes inside, then outside, then finish with the lid and other outside details. I'm not specifically familiar with that model but the sequence should generally work.
After changing gas tank -
Vincent, this is caused in part by the Overfill Protection Device (OPD) valve in the tank head and the way the tank was turned ON.
To solve this problem, do the following:

2. Wait 5 minutes and reconnect the hose to the tank.

Tiny flame on my weber gas grill
I don't know which Weber grill you have, but if it is connected to an LP tank, it sounds like your regulator is not working properly. Try replacing the regulator and hose.
I have a 4 or
It can be repaired, but you may have to replace the entire burner manifold, to fix that one valve. It does require dismantling the control panel and part of the inside of the grill's tub. If you can furnish me with the correct Model Number for your Weber Grill, I can supply you with more information.
Look forward to hearing from you.
The line from the gas
there is sometimes an automatic shutoff if too much flow is detected. Occasionally when the lines are purged and you open the valve on the tank it will activate this.
- turn the tank off
- turn the burners on
- wait 10 seconds and turn the burners off
- open tank valve slowly- listen for a slight ping or click, if this happens that is the shut off activating, try again opening the valve more slowly.
Hope this helps, also make sure tank is full and you didn't leave it on all night.
If this helps please rate it

I have a low, blue
Did you try a new propane tank? If that doesn't work you need a new regulator. You can get one very inexpensively at your local hardware store. It is a simple swap out - five minutes.
My weber only works on
check the venturi that is the area where the fuel mixes with air. It is generally outside the burner box just asd the pipes go in. Bugs make nests in there and can block the flow of gas.
It could also be a bad gas valve.
Here is a generic picture of it
I have a 3 week
The problem could be a simple one. There is a flow restrictor in the regulator that prevents too much gas from going out all at once. Here is how you fix it.
- turn off the valve at the tank
- turn on the burner valve
- listen for a small metal click or ping (it does not matter if you hear this it just means that that was the trouble)
- then turn off the burner valves
- open tank valve slowly, listening again for a click or ping
- then try the burners again.
How to control the heat
For a charcoal grill you can try closing the bottom vents some, this will reduce the airflow to the coals, Closing the top will work also but will trap heat in. If stuff is burning on the outside go with the bottom. Hope this helps, Remember it will take some time for the adjustments to have any effect so wait before you readjust.
Our seven year old grill
There might be some clogged holes on the burners. Take the grill grates off and try cleaning the burners. Sometimes fat and food pieces can drip down and clog the burner openings.
My propane tank still feels
The chances are that the orifice for the gas is blocked. If your grill has been outside it is possible that spiders have clogged the valve. Spiders are attracted to the propane gas odor. Remove the line at the valve and turn the gas on to make sure the valve is clear (do this outside). If the valve is clear, check the line from the valve to the burner jet, Check each piece in order from the valve to the jet. This should clear the problem.
Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks
Two years old, burners look
Randy, it sounds like the burner(s) need a good, thorough cleaning. Apparently some of the burner ports are clogged and the flames are not equal along the burner. If you take this one out to clean it, clean the other two, as well. It's a good idea to clean the venturi valves too.
Hope this helped you to troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know and Happy Grilling!!
No instructions how to cure
Here is 7 simple steps! Enjoy.
- Preheat your oven to 275-350?F. (135-175?C)
- Wash and dry the grill with dish soap if it is a newly cast piece.
- Cover them completely with a light to moderate coating of melted lard shortening
- Put a foil-covered cookie sheet under the grill to catch any drippings
- Place in the oven for thirty minutes.
- Remove and let cool, repeat this process at least 2 more times to get a dark finish. Further repetitions will deepen the seasoning and protect the metal
- Reinstall on your barbecue after cleaning out the basket of any debris.
Hope this helps.
Thanks for choosing Fixya,
