Memorex (32023244) CD-RW/DVD-ROM Combo Drive Questions & Answers
I have this cd-r by
You cant.
A CD-R (Compact Disc-Recordable) is a variation of the Compact Disc invented by Philips and Sony. CD-R is a Write Once Read Many (WORM) optical medium, though the whole disk does not have to be entirely written in the same session.
CD-R retains a high level of compatibility with standard CD readers, unlike CD-RW - which can be re-written, but is not capable of playing on many readers, and also uses more expensive media..
If you want to be able to use the disc many times, you need to buy CD-RW discs

My Memorex 32023244 CD-ROM/DVD external combo not reading DVDs
In an optical drive, two optical read heads are present—one for CDs, and the other for DVDs. What you are describing is a very common symptom of a drive where one read had has gone bad but the other continues to work. Unless the problem is an optical obstruction like dust (possible, but very unlikely), this particular unit will never read DVDs again. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

How do you erase songs on a CD?
If you wrote to a 'CD-R' disk, then you cannot "erase", because it is "write-once-read-many".
In the unlikely case that you wrote to a CD/RW ("rewritable") disk, you can _erase_ the entire disk.
So, in both cases, you need to "rip" the "good' tracks from the CD, writing to your 'C:' drive, and then write a new CD-R disk.
Take a pair of scissors to the "old' CD-R disk, so that nobody can play the music on that disk.

How to delete content on cd-r
Hi and thank you for using fixya.
First of all you can only delete content when you have a CD-RW unit on your pc. Also the CD that you would like to delete has to be CD-RW as well. If all of the above apply follow this instructions:
1- you will put the CD in your computer.
2- go to my computer
3- open the D: drive
4- select all content
5- press the delete on your keyboard or right click delete
Hope it works
Good luck

MY CD-DVD DOOR WILL NOT OPEN
This is sometimes cuased by either a faulty drive motor or even the Magnet which keeps the disc in place.
You can force eject the disc by taking a paper clip and straightening it out, then you insert the clip into the tiny hole under the CD tray and pressing it in firmly until the tray releases.

Brand new one won't open
try to put needle to small hole on front face of drive, but I recommend you to take warranty and get new drive, sometimes you buy faulty new things, that is normal, when almost every hardware is made in China...

How to get the drive to open?
I have a Memorex 52x CD burner. It bought it new and had no problems until about a year after I purchased it. Then suddenly, for no obvious reason, the drive would not open. The light flashed and I could hear the gears trying to open, but it would not consistently open. If I repeatedly pushed the button, eventually it would open.
What I finally discovered is that as long as I keep a disc in the drive, it will open and close with no problems. Now I keep a blank CD in the drive at all times, and so far the problem has stopped. I suggest keeping a blank CD in the drive so you don't lose a "real" CD forever (or have to destroy the burner to get it out). I don't know if this will work for everyone.
I DO NOT suggest inserting a credit card as another poster suggested. I tried this and it DOES NOT work. Plus you risk breaking the drive and destroying your credit card all at the same time (thereby delaying the purchase of a new one). Besides, credit card simply doesn't fit into the very small space around the tray door.
Based on other people's comments and the problems I've experienced, I'd suggest that people avoid buying Memorex products altogether. I bought this drive because my old one died and I was looking for a cheap burner to hold me over until I could afford to replace my computer. I may have saved a little money, but in the end I got what I paid for. My sympathies to anyone who's also experienced this problem.
