If you blew the fuse, the TV would do absolutely nothing - no lights, no sounds, nothing. It could be that the loud zapping noise you heard was the high voltage transformer arcing or shorting out. This could have caused the horizontal output transistor to short, and the set will not start as a result. You should have the set serviced by a qualified tech.

This may denote a proble in either your switching powers supply or your Horizontal section derived high voltage power supply. These are both very dangerous sections in your television. My next question is important; do you have a background in electronics? If not I would not advise you working on this problem yourself and that you take the TV to a repair shop for servicing. If you do have some background in electronics, I would like for you to make the following obeservations: What was the TV doing (it actions)prior to it going out? Did you hear any sounds before it went out like buzzing or crackling? What do you hear when you try to turn it on now, clicking? These questions are just to develop some background into what might be happening to your set. Thank you, Shuttle83

I Just started to service one of these RCA ATC-010 chassis,I found a shorted Horizontal Output transistor 2SD-3402.
This could be just a failure of the transistor itself or the transistor failed because the flyback transformer has either shorted windings or internal diodes. These parts are not expensive,I suggest replacing both at the same time to save yourself future aggravation.

I decided not to sign up at this time for premium assistance because I know that it is either related to flyback transformer or regulator. Because I do not have required test equipment to perceive which, I opted to take it to the shop.

Hello All,

This is a flyback problem. Thomson will not honor the installation neither will RCA. This has been going on for years. RCA and Thomson technically parted company a few years ago, but because RCA still uses Thomson parts they often have problems getting these parts when they fail, so RCA leaves it up to the TV owner to get the set repaired at a third party shop. In addition to this the Thomson parts only have a 1year warranty from the date of manufacture of the set, so it is possible for you to buy a RCA TV with Thomson parts that are out of warranty before you take it out of the store. Sad but true, the only recourse is to try to get RCA to service the set, provided that it malfunctions within the first year of purchase. I would suggest that you all take these TVs to a qualified TV repair shop to get them repaired, however, make sure the shop uses the exact OEM parts (This is important) because there are parts that come close to the original, but you or the TV shop would have to spend hours adjusting focus and screen voltages to allow the new part to work.

I hope this helps

Thank you,

Sounds like a bad horizontal transistor and flyback transformer . Do you know how to unsolder and or solder ? If so you might have a chance . If no the avg. to get repaired is around $90.00 to $130.00 so shop around as some shops will charge more . The parts you could buy your self for around $30.00 to 40.00 . Good luck and if you think you could fix let me know and see if i can get you part numbers .

Probable EEPROM issue--What is the service #? (Has three additional characters after model #. EXPERIMENT==1)remove EEPROM-be careful not to damage it. 2)Install 8 pin plug-in socket--observe pin 1 indicator. 3)Plug back in original IC==may work ok,if not replace w/pre-programmed IC from HB Electronics.

I've had this TV for just over a year. Went to turn it on one day and it would not power up. I here a relay clicking. i suspect the horziontal drive transistor. Does any one have a service manual or know where I can gat one? first check power supply output if it ok than forget relay if not check power supply by dis connnecting horl. output. if it is ok check h/driver collector voltage if it is less than supply voltage than h/osc & driver ckt.is ok check h/output & its print for loose. regards thanks

what happens if use the power button on the tv itself? if immediate then issue is probably batteries in the remote

RCA Televison &... | Answered on Jun 10, 2019

Probably but you need the specific code for ONN to enter into the remote so they can communicate. Worst case just get a replacement remote at WalMart...they're about $10 and come with a current (they change) code list.

Im not certain about your controller but on most with backlights, they do turn off after a short time to conserve battery power.
