Open top overlay panel. Hit the following buttons in sequence.
Data Registration

Scroll down to #8 Clear
Set
Scroll up to All
Set
Stop.

Movement of the ink cartridge holder is blocked. There may be a scrap of paper, or staple, or paper clip binding the cartridge from moving. Check for foreign objects. Press and hold the on / off button to power down the fax. Unplug it from the wall outlet for 5 minutes. Plug it back in and power up. Also, check to make sure the cartridge is installed correctly by removing and reinstalling it. If the same error occurs, contact Canon service rep.
Reference page 62 in Users Guide.

If it still prints, ignore the ink level indicator. If it won't print, then you need to get a new cartridge.

Normally the fax is set for auto print off,set it to auto print on by pressing the on/off button once less than asecond,it will switch between auto print on and off.

Normaly it is the auto print off setting that is set to off,press the on/off button once less than a second then it will switch to auto print on.All the faxes in memory will be printed out.

my fax says autoprint off. how do i fix it??? have not been able to receive any faxes. thanks.

Set your fax to MANUAL MODE. You will have to press START when you know you are getting a fax.

This is the only way it will work without a dedicated fax line.

LineFeed signal is not detected.
The paper feed in the printer is not detected, the motor may be defective, or the transparent plastic disc on the motor, respectively, the corresponding sensor.

Look at section 4 "Setting Receive Mode".

Press on/off button once, this will enable/disable auto print. Holding this button down causes machine to power off.

I had this Check 6000 when I first got the machine. The problem was that I did not lift up the top cover (where you put the paper in). As a result it locks the carriage and creates this error. Lift up the cove at the top of the machine, then turn the machine off and on again and 'Hey presto" your problem is solved.
