20 Most Recent Sony MHC-LX1000 Shelf System Questions & Answers

This is for model # MHC-LX10000. All of these answers are WRONG ! Do not listen to these. Its very simple, I had the same problem happen to me today and simply reset the system to the original factory settings. Here's how to do this and is very easy. It is mentioned in the user manual on Page 32. First unplug the power cord. Then plug it back in and turn on the system with the power button on the audio system. At the same time, press 3 buttons - the square/stop, ENTER and the Power buttons. The system gets reset to factory settings and the Speaker B will disappear. You will lose all your presets but the speakers will work once again. What a relief it was to me ! You can then set up your presets again. I wonder why with all these system support techs available here and bragging about how many years they have worked for Sony, none of them could mention this simple solution.

Generally speaking, an amp protects itself from heat, shorts, overloads and operator exuberance by refusing to turn on or stay on.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

If you have an older android phone or tablet, you can download an app. If not, go to any electrical or department store and buy a universal remote. You can also look on Ebay and Amazon

Yes, sometimes that is the only way. There is a reading lens and a tracking lens. Also make sure you discs are clean and not scratched. You can clean with acrylic polish.

Hi Humberto, comment the brand and model of the phono preamplifier, also if it has a separate power supply or inside the preamplifier cabinet
I ask you this, because if you were armed in a plastic cabinet, you could pick up interference caused by cell phones or other type of component that can emit electrical noise and these interferences are those that could generate the noises that you hear in your speakers at the moment that you listen to the discs
I await your comment

Espero tu comentario

Hello Giannis, the indication that appears on the screen, can be for several reasons, malfunction of cassette players, malfunction of the compactera and / or malfunction of the speaker output, in the worst case the audio output, scorched
If you have technical knowledge, you can try to disarm the equipment and go disconnecting, the flat cassette connection tape and fix if it starts, if it does not, leave disconnected and disconnect the flat tape from the compactera and the multi-legged cable that comes from the mechanism of the compactera, try again, if it still continues, you should check that you do not have direct current in the output of the STK4211
Otherwise, you will have to take it to a specialized technical service
Note, in this Sony model, you can not join the speaker negatives, since they do not have the common configuration, the audio outputs are Bridge type
I hope you can solve the problem, comment the results
Greetings Franco Dosil
