If the line occurs when running documents through the document feeder and not when placing your document on the glass the problem is a dirty "**** glass". Open the document feeder and look for a thin glass that probably has white out on it. Carefully remove the whiteout with your fingernail or with a damp cloth. Good luck.

Simple, clean the ADF glass that the paper passes over during a scan (not the flatbed glass itself, just the thin strip of glass at the head of the flatbed glass). A speck of dirt on the glass will appear as a line down the length of the paper.

There is a speck of dirt or some such on the ADF Scan glass not the flatbed iteself. As the paper travels over the glass the speck of dirt is being seen by the scanner making a "line" appear on the entire length of the scan.

1. Start -> Click Run
2. Enter msconfig and click ok
3. Click Startup tab
4. Uncheck program that you don't want to startup
You can disable programs that you don't want automatically load when you start your computer. By disabling these programs will help your computer startup faster.
