sounds like a bad power supply you can test it if you have a pc power supply tester,or have it tested at your local pc store.also check to see if its still under warrenty,that way you could get the work done for free at an authorized repair center.

At this point, from what you described, the memory stick or the slot could be the problem.

First check the 2 memory sticks to be certain that they are compatible with each other - the type and speed. That could be your problem.

If OK, remove both memory sticks and try the second stick of memory in the first slot. If it works, the 2nd memory slot is problematic.

If it doesn't work, your 2nd stick of memory is bad and needs to be replaced.

If the memory slot is bad, there really is not much you can do except replace your motherboard.

Reinstall your Windows program, try buying a solid state hard drive and put your Window program on it alone usually a 120gb or 200gb will do, and have another hard drive for all your other downloads, ever since i did that my Windows loads much faster and have no hang ups or errors..

You would need about 1000 floppies to store Windows XP. You need to go into the BIOS and select the primary boot drive to optical(cd). Then restart with the windows disc in the CD drive. Floppies haven't been needed to install the OS since Windows 98.

If this was damaged 'In Transit' contact the company you bought it from and they may be able to supply you with a replacement. The damage was possibly due to bad packaging at their end or damage while the delivery company had it.

Optical drive is defective and in need of replacement.
