hi just a tip! try to program your remote to control both your tv and the cable box both at the same time so when you try to adjust the volume automatically both tv and the cable box will respond. you can actually call uverse for that so that they can assist you on programming your remote to your tv and cable box. hope this would help goodluck!!!

go to walmart and buy uneversal one for few dollars or ebay.

you have activated picture in picture.I was able to simply turn the tv off using the power button on front and turn it back on again and it was ok.

There may not be a code set that applies to your TV' there is no such thing as a 'universal' remote and the farther apart the two are in time, the less likely it is that you will find a code set that works. A new remote is more likely to have a code set for an older TV but the reverse is not possible.
Your Durabrand AND the Magnavox are both made by Funai so check their website for info on both.
You might also try the brands listed below to see if any of their code sets work, all are made by Funai:

BTW, when buying one of the remotes claiming to be 'universal,' check the remote manufacturer's website by model number BEFORE buying it to see if they have those devices listed you want to control.

try using the numbers of the remote control, for example, if you want to receive the channel 105 intro in your remote control using numbers 1,0,and five next push enter button of the remote control. Another thing, be sure that your tv is in mode cable or antenna, some remote control has this option in his buttons, see on your remote control.

Input button if it has one or get a universal remote.

turn channels to low ones like three or two or four if its inserted in your rcas on your tv it should work if it doesn't the game is not good

Connecting this up will be easy. What you do is get a yourself a set of the right, for your setup, cables. That uses EITHER one of the formats, of these described, below. You will need, either, a THREE way Cable, or three separate " Coaxial Cored" Cables with RCA PLUGS on them. ColoredYellow, (Video) Red, & White. (Audio) AV. OR If you have SCARTConnection Sockets, it's a big Black Socket at rear of unit(s), you get aSCART Cable.& It's all inside. Now some units, use a standard calledComponent Video, that uses, a Green, Red, & Blue Plugs. Now, with the Component setup, you will also ,need, Two more Cables, for the AV Audio. these are, Red & White.(So with Component Video there are 5 Cables/Plugs in all). In any event ALL Cables go Color to Color, at each end, plugging into the corresponding Colored RCA Jacks, on either machine, or VCR or TV. Now if you have SCART, then it simply plugs in only one way. It is that simple. So connect up with the leads your set uses, and select the correct "Input" from TV/Remote, it is NOT on a "Channel" it will be on AV, AUX, and Press "Play" on VCR/DVD whatever.... should be all go.

You may also set the Game mode and external
input mode at the same time by pressing the
GAME button on the remote control. “GAME”
appears on the TV screen.
● To exit the Game mode and external input
mode, press the GAME button on the remote
control again.
● To cancel the Game mode only, adjust the
picture control. The Game mode will be set to
[OFF] automatically as explained in the previous
section. In this case, “VIDEO”(external
input mode) instead of “GAME” appears on
the TV screen.
● When you press the GAME button if the TV is
off, the TV turns on and will be in the Game
mode and external input mode automatically.
