My LaCie Porsche doesn't show anymore.

You got a virus somewhere that knock it out. Sad to say, you will have to get rid of it and I only know of one way. Formatting the entire drive so you can use it again. If you are on a Mac, you may have picked this up from Microsoft who does this to drives they feel are clones.

My hard drive does nt

Your hard drive could be experiencing boot files issues. You may have to re-install your operating system again. Or do a repair from the installation disk insert into the CD or DVD Rom and then boot from there. Select open DVD or CD any key at the boot. Then install again and do a repair it will reload all the boot goodies. Or just redo the whole thing back to factory this is what I do when stuff like this happens obviously something got corrupted. This is how I would handle it also save and files if you can once fixed hopefully you did so that you can reload them again when you start from scratch.
Last ditch would be to unplug the computer from its power source then push in the power button and wait until you see a flash. Then plug the computer back in and power up again this sets the hard drive and drivers back to default settings. This is a hard boot process. Sometimes this works more times than not. Hope this assists you thanks for using FixYa! do not forget to vote for me. John

La Cie USB hard dirve its lighting intermittently

Plug your usb drive into your computer. Then right click on my computer and select manage. Select disk management in the left pane. scroll down to look for your external drive in the bottom pane. You might need to initialize the disk by right clicking the gray area to the left of your disk on the bottom pane. If its already initialized you should be able to right click the disk just to the right of where you just clicked and select format, making sure to assign a drive letter and do a quick format of ntfs through the wizard that pops up. If the drive is labeled GPT protected you'll have to convert the disk to MBR by using the diskpart command. Go to start then run and type cmd and hit enter to bring up the command prompt.
  1. Type diskpart and hit enter
  2. Type list disk and hit enter and find your disk in the output
  3. Type select followed by your disk's number, for example "select disk 1"
  4. Type clean and hit enter
  5. Close the command prompt and now you should be able to initialize and format your disk.

We understand that your problem is: We understand

An external storage-device has four major components:

* the USB cable

* the power-adapter

* the disk-drive inside the enclosure

* the USB-to-disk-drive adapter inside the enclosure.

One of these components has failed.

Try a different USB cable.

Try connecting to a different USB port on your computer.

Try connecting to a USB port on a different computer.

Take a "multi-meter" and measure both the voltage and amperage output from the AC adapter, and compare with the specifications on the label on the adapter.

Open the enclosure, and remove the disk-drive, and then connect it as a "slave" disk-drive in a desktop computer, to see if it works at all.

Purchase a new, compatible, disk-drive, and install it in the enclosure, to "revive" your external storage device.

Get the part-number and serial-number from the label on your disk-drive, and access the manufacturer's web-site, and use "check warranty status", to see if they will replace the device, at minimal cost to you.

There exist commercial "data recovery" services that can try to repair your device, just long-enough to rescue and copy your files. For example, see: https://services.seagate.com/index.aspx?lng=en-US for a "no data - no charge" guarantee.

If it still has a valid warranty, exercise the warranty to get a free replacement.

Otherwise, open the enclosure, and separate the disk-drive from the USB-to-disk-drive adapter, and connect the disk-drive as a 'slave' disk-drive in a desktop computer, to see if the adapter was the problem.

My drive turns on fine, but when i connect it to

Nope, that would be okay, the heads are MAGNETICALLY located across the disk.

The F drive thing is assigned by the OS on boot up, you cannot really alter that without retarding things.

So, this is not a primary drive? if not other stuff gets loaded ahead, a ton for camera card ports, for example.

After dropping lacie: red light and recurring audible beep.

You can only hope that the drop has dislodged the drive from the internal connections in the case and has not damaged the drive. You'll have to figure out how to get the case apart.

Broken USB connection Lacie FA Porsche

You may be able to resolder the USB port, maybe an electronics savy friend with a soldering iron will help you with this. Disassemble it and check if the traces and tabs of the usb port are still intact. If they are it can definitely be soldered. Or you can just put the HDD in a new enclosure, they are dirt cheap. If you want somebody else to do it for you there are services like Data Recovery NYC. Also there is good informaation on logic board repairs on hddguru.com.

Lacie External HD not detected by Device Manger

it is hard to say exactly what's wrong with but I would say that is probably that the usb (if it's a usb disk) isn't working on the drive side. It has power and disk are probably working if you can hear the sound of them. But since the usb port which connects it to PC isn't working it doesn't show up in device manager.

That would be my guess based on what you wrote here
