XEROX PHASER 8550 PRINTS ONE PAGE AND JAMS THE

Is the Drum unit clean?
Often the Drum Maintenance kit can get dirty, and not clean the Drum properly, which can lead to jams.
Also, the drive cam for the Drum Maintenance kit can fail. This means not enough cleaning pressure is applied to the Drum unit, and it can't clean it properly, causing jams.

good luck

Error Code 04,025.46:51997

04,025.46 Error Code indicates the process controll system cannot home the drum transfix assembly. Check for build up of ink in the maint tray. If that does not solve it is most likely the X axis motor.

How do I change the print head on a Xerox 8500?

Hi there,

How to remove a printhead
  1. Press the on-line / off-line key on the printer operator panel to set the printer off-line.
  2. Use the upper softkeys to scroll to the 'Replace printhead' card
  3. Press the softkey below the 'Replace printhead' card to enter the wizard.
An introduction screen displays the message 'Use this wizard to replace printheads. A roll is needed for calibration.'
  4. Press the key for 'Next'.
The screen displays the message 'Select roll to use'.
The system does a calibration at the end of the wizard. You can only calibrate on the defined media types. When calibration is not possible with the media available on the printer, the system asks you to load the correct media. When calibration is possible with one of the rolls, the system automatically uses the correct media roll. When calibration is possible with both rolls, use the lower softkeys to select the roll to use.
  5. Press the key for 'Next'.
The screen displays the message 'Carriage moving to centre position...' while the carriage moves to the centre.
The screen displays 'Open top cover.'
  6. Open the top cover. The screen displays the message 'Replace printheads' and the printheads that you must replace. Find the correct printhead number on the printhead carriage.
  7. Press the front of the printhead cover to unlock the cover.
  8. Open the printhead cover.
  9. Pull out the printhead and remove it.
How to place a printhead
  1. Remove the protective tape from the new printhead.
Do not touch the contact and nozzle areas of the printhead after you remove the protective tape.
  2. Place the new printhead in the printhead holder.
The printhead only fits in one way.
  3. Close the printhead cover.
  4. After you replaced the defective printhead, press the softkey for 'Next'
  5. The screen displays the message 'Make sure that all head covers are properly positioned.'
    Press the key for 'Done'.
The screen displays the message 'Close top cover.'
  6. Close the top cover.
The screen displays the message 'Carriage moving to home position...'
  7. The screen displays 'Calibrating...'.
The calibration process takes several minutes.
You can stop the calibration process at any time. Press the key for 'Cancel' to stop the calibration process.

Phaser 8550 with 08.045.43.42396 error

The error indicates something blocking the cap wipe assembly from going up and down.

Did you shut off the machine while it was warming up, or purging it self? If you did the printhead is probably stuck to the cap wipe assembly and need to be separated (gently) so that the cap wipe can move up and down.

The blurry prints are from oil on the encoder wheel, clean the encoder wheel and you will be fine.

Repeated paper jams

These errors are usually caused by a cracked DM Camshaft (Drum Maintenance). This was a very common problem for Xerox, they usually broke while under warranty, but there a heck of a lot out there that are just now going bad after a year.

You may or may not need to replace the "Motor Process Drive Gears" as well as the DM camshaft.

You might be able to talk Xerox into doing this as a warranty repair, if you ***** real loud.

Error code in Phaser 8550 window. ?:07,010.43:1362

The exact explanation per xerox is " The Printhead is stuck in the tilted position, and is not able to tile forward to the print position, due to problems.

This is usually caused by broken printhead restraints, of the machine got shut off in the middle of warming up, and the printhead is stuck to the cap wipe assembly.

Regardless the machines covers will have to be taken off to go any further.

I get a print out from start up which says

Here's a link to the error codes, note the 8550 codes are on the right side. (See POST codes.)
16.4 is a soft error code, i.e. doesn't prevent your printer from starting up, but generates a printed report. "Control panel data path failure, bad data returned." See page 4 for instructions recommended in this case.
You can access a remote dignostic tool from Xerox for your machine here., and here are support center instructions.
Here is the home support page for your model.
There may be firmware updates available for your printer that could help to correct some issues.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

Xerox 8550 hardware failure front panel data path failure 16.4

It sounds like the display panel has gone bad. Possibly the text is garbled or only half shows up??

If you contact Xerox and tell them, I believe they will send you a replacement display panel - even if your printer is no longer under warranty -- IF your printer has never been sent a replacement display.

I've had this happen on several of these printers - I believe they know there is an issue with the display panels, which is why they are sending replacements for free.

I find the easiest way to contact them is to go through the support section at xerox.com and search for that error, then hit contact us at the bottom of the page. It'll ask for your contact information as well as the serial number of your machine.

I get this error 09.038.46:16890, Xerox 8560

9038 Means that the inck count sensor flags are stuck after melting 2.5 ink sticks for your black ink. Are you running Genuine Xerox Ink? If so then you need to run the "Clear ISC Fault" test to clear the error. This is done in the diagnostics menu. To get to the diagnostics menu shut your printer off then do the following.
1.) Hold down the back and info buttons
2.) while holding the buttons turn your printer on
3.) keep holding for 30-45 seconds

The "Clear ISC Fault" is located under the Functions menu.

After you have run the "Clear ISC Fault" verify that the black ink sticks are able to advance in the ink loader chute. Check and make sure there are no broken ink sticks or wrong ink types and remove them.
