I had a similar problem that happened to my old Betamax camcorder. The only way that the pinch roller can be replaced is the whole cassette mechanism had to be replaced which was way too expensive and not worth the fix. And that was coming from a Sony certified repair shop.

Likely doesn't have a reset button. What's the problem?

You can connect the A/V out to the inputs of the TV.
if you have any HDMI out in the camera, you can connect the same to the HDMI IN of the TV.
Last option is if you have RF modulator, you can modulate the AV out to RF and then connect the same to the TV tuner RF in of the TV.

This type of cord is the simple answer - you would need to us Microsoft Movie Maker (if on Windows type system, there are plenty of programs under Linux, and a similar program for Mac). Basically, play via the camcorder, use program to 'capture' the movie, and then edit as needed, save to file type that you prefer.

you might be running into couple of issues. first, components for sony equipment is always pretty expensive. so a motherboard for a camera being expensive isn't unlikely. also the parts for this camera are probably a bit hard to come by since the camera has been discontinued for so long. a fix and replacement part can easily cost more than the camera is worth.

which kind of camcorder? the hdv versions usually had a ilink port which was a 4pin firewire that can hook up to the 9pin firewire on macs. if you have a newer model mac with a thunderbolt port there are adapters you can get for firewire. newer model sony camcorders usually have sd cards you can take out and drag files over. there might also be a usb port option.
