I'm having trouble receiving packets from wireless
For starters when the wireless card gets bad..usually you couldn't see the signal or nearby wireless broadcast.
I assume you can see it, because you said you got problems with packets.
it could be cause by many factors.
Wireless router misconfigurations, but the most common is interference.
If your wireless router is broadcasting in the same channel as ...lets say a cordless phone...your connection will be dropping frequently.
Also, neighbors using the same channel as well can cause the same problem.
Seems to me that the problem is in the wireless router, and not in your wireless card.
Don't forget to rate this answer if it helps.

I have a Sony Viao,
Your laptop likely needs more internal memory to process the video stream.
The cheapest way to satisfy its needs, is to plug a large capacity memory stick into a USB port. It will open a window asking what to do with the drive - click on Dedicate Drive to ReadyBoost to add the memory to laptop's.
If the window doesn't open automatically, click on Properties on the Drive and then the ReadyBoost tab to do the same.
btw, I'm not a fan of McAfee - it's a memory and cpu hog. Microsoft's Windows Defender is slimmer and good.

How do I get updated
The Sony VAIO VGN-C140G/B manual indicates that it has the following video card:
Processor: IntelĀ® Graphics Media Accelerator 950 on Intel's 950G chipset
The manual, if you require it, can be found at this link:
VGNC140GB Manual
You could easily update the driver by using Intel's Driver Updater:
Intel Driver Utility Update GraphicYou will likely need to do the same (updating driver) for your monitor. Please respond if updating both drivers doesn't solve your request.

Restore factory settings
Can you be more specific? when you turn the laptop on what does it do - does it beep at you? does the screen come on (even if nothing is displayed) - do you get any errors, if so, what do they say?

Is there a spot for a sd card on the sony vgn-c140g
If there is one it will be on side or front of the computer. You can always buy a sd card reader that plugs into your usb port. Try buying a SD Card Reader that reads many formats from Tiger Direct at:http://www.tigerdirect.comWhen the site comes up just type: SD Card Reader in the white search box at the top of the page then click GO.Or if you camera came with cables you can plug one end into the camera and the other end into the computer's usb port and turn the camera on. The computer will recognize it and you can search through the folders on the camera for the pictures.

Hendersothin black line running from
This sounds like a hardware issue. This could be an issue with the graphics card (built onto the system board) or it could be a crack in the LCD screen. Regardless this is a hardware issue that software or driver updates cannot fix.

I purchased an identical battery for Vaio
I should think either the battery is flat and needs a while to get going or there is a problem with the battery. Leave it charging for a few hours to see if it initialises correctly. If the battery is below a threshold voltage, the uProcessor in your laptop will think there is a problem and not let it start.

Vaio wont power up but
Disconnect the AC adapter, remove any additional RAM that has been added
and disconnect all peripheral devices connected to the computer.
If the computer starts normally after performing
this procedure, the issue is being caused by the additional RAM, or the
peripheral devices that were connected to the computer.
Remove and then reconnect the battery.
Remove and replace (reseat) the original RAM that came installed in the computer.
Check if the computer goes to BIOS, restart the computer press and hold the F2 key. If so..reset it by pressing the F9 key.
Try to boot the computer...

My cd/dvd burner no longer
Normaly windows supplies generic drivers for disk drives so I would suggest completing a windows update first, if that doesn't provide a driver, then log onto the Sony web site, follow links for support and downloads check if there's a new W7 compatible driver there.

Hi, I have a problem with my laptop(2 yrs old).
Sounds like a software error. When the screen has been blaxk for a minute or two try hitting control+alt+del and use the task manager to start the process explorer.exe if so then there is a registry or windows error and needs to be repaired.

My HD crashed. I replaced it with a new one. I
I had a similar problem to this when installing windows 7 to my netbook with an external DVD drive.
I discovered that after getting to a certain point of the installation where it reboots, to remove the DVD for the installation of windows, so that it can proceed with the installation, instead of trying to partition and reformat the drive again which it does when the disc is in the drive.
It sounds, however, that your problem may be different than the problem I had. But, I thought I would share this with you.
