Factory reset
If you restore the laptop to the Out of the box condition you will lose all your data.
You can remove or change the Window's User or
administrator's password and privileges. You need access to a computer with
Internet access to download the Hiren's Boot CD and burn it onto a CD.
Then insert this CD into the laptop/computer and boot up
the laptop/computer with the Hiren's CD and follow the instructions.
There are very useful utilities CD and it a Linux boot CD
which contains quite a lot of Utility programs including a password removal
program.
Click on one of these links to
download HIREN'S
BOOTCD :-

After fixing your admin password then create a new one and do not lend your laptop to your room mates.

My 380UX's screen show a
Hi,
I think it would be better to isolate the problem if its software or hardware. Most likely the lines on the screen are cause either by faulty LCD, loosed cable from the LCD to Video Card or Bad Video Card. Try loading to BIOS and see if its having lines inside it, If yes means its already hardware problem. There is a Loosed, Bad connection or Faulty hardware inside the machine.
Hope it helps.

On start up i see
This sounds like a hardware problem. The most common is a hard drive issue. On startup in the right hand corner you will see two options, choose press F12. this will bring you to a menu. search for run diagnostics test. select that option and it should tell you what the problem is. Then go from there and research the problem further. There is many different thing that could be wrong. but this is the first step in the right direction.
Hope this helps.

When i am swiching on
Dear Friend,
As there is no primary drive in this vaio, it boots form Hard drive. If OS on hard drive is corrupt OR HDD is bad then you will get such massage. Go to set up. Enable external booting option. Try booting the system from USB pen drive ( You have to make a bootable pen drive ). If it boots then you have to replace HDD.

Sony vaio vgn-ux280p pc notebook white screen on
I can tell that this problem may be related to the following:
1. Loose connection between the video cable and the LCD screen.
2. Defective LCD screen.
3. Defective motherboard (I assume the graphics card is integrated into the motherboard).
Most likely you still can use the laptop with an external monitor. Just connect the monitor to the VGA port on the back or side of your laptop and then switch the video output from internal to external mode.
you can toggle between internal and external screens using Fn+F5 keys. Hold down Fn and press on F5 until you get video on the external monitor.
Use can also try Fn+F7 or Fn+F4
I noticed that in some cases the laptop screen may turn white because of poor connection between the video cable and the LCD screen. If you want to check this connection, you'll have to take apart the display panel because the connector is located on the back side of the LCD screen
I always check the video cable connection first. Reconnecting the video cable may fix your problem.
If reconnecting the video cable doesn't help, most likely you have a problem either with the LCD screen or with the motherboard.
The best way to find out which one is causing the problem is testing the laptop with another working LCD screen. Without this test you'll have to guess because as I mentioned before this could either bad motherboard or bad LCD screen.
If you laptop is under warranty it would be easily replaced

I have a sony vaio
Try letting it boot, and look for restore from your start menu. Some makers put it there, others, when you try to access the D:\ drive, it invokes program to ask the user questions on restore....
Do be aware that you need Windows and all other programs' access codes, after a reload. Another option is to create a new user, give that user admininstrator rights, and delete any unneeded users. Also on the boot up, watch the screen carefully, each system tells you how to access the bios, did you try delete? All of the keys you mentioned, try without alt, not sure that works at that boot stage.

Default bios password of sony vgn-ux280p
This information is intended for experienced users. It is not intended for basic users, hackers, or computer thieves. Please do not try any of following procedures if you are not familiar with computer hardware. I'll not be responsible for the use or misuse of this information, including personal injury, loss of data or hardware damage. So use it at your own risk.
A. By Using the Motherboard Jumper:
In most motherboards CMOS battery is soldered, which makes it difficult to remove the battery. In this case we use another method.
Almost all motherboards contain a jumper that can clear all CMOS settings along with the BIOS password. The location of this jumper varies depending upon the motherboard brand. You should read your motherboard manual to check its location. If you don't have the manual then look for the jumpers near the CMOS battery. Most of the manufacturer label the jumper as CLR, CLEAR, CLEAR CMOS, etc.
When you find the jumper, look carefully. There will be 3 pins and the jumper will be joining the center pin to either left or right pin. What you need to do, is remove the jumper and join the center pin to the opposite pin. e.g. if the jumper joins center pin to left pin, then remove it and join center pin to right pin. Now wait for a few seconds and then again remove the jumper and join the center pin to left pin.
Make sure to turn the PC off before opening the cabinet and resetting the jumper.
B. By Using Software:
I have found that BIOS/CMOS Password Recovery Tool is the most effective.:
BIOS/CMOS Password Recovery Tool is a program that works instantly to remove any lost or forgotten BIOS/CMOS password. Simply boot your PC to DOS and execute the program, and get access to forgotten BIOS/CMOS passwords in just seconds
